Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths

Combining true statements with additions -- very smart way to confuse issues. Internet is especially dangerous in this way, since print media would have real problems getting away with this type of propaganda effort -- copyright laws help stop that type of combination in print.

In election year, this mixing of sources will be used over and over as a technique. And will work most of the time since many web users will not check out facts and just repost.

I am having the most confusing day today.

What you say is true. I forget to check on alot of my email and will forward or post.
However, whether partial truth or all true, articles with common sense like the one MIT posted are to show us how it should be.

Of course we need to be careful about the Internet. I see no harm in trying to stir patriotism as long as there is no violence suggested.

When words of ignorant hate are mixed in with actual statements from international leaders, there is harm. Truth is damaged. For example, Austrialia was not founded as stated -- it was a criminal colony of the British. Just for a start .... but most important is making internet users notice that all sorts of untrue statements are sent out this way. The election will be a major testing ground for this type of political propaganda. And as fast as the web works, it probably will work.

At least LBJ's 1964 ad showing the little girl with the daisy in front of a mushroom cloud -- if you're old enough to remember that attack on Barry Goldwater -- could only be shown once before the next day's answer in a dozen newspapers. On the web it could have been shown a million times, with no answer really possible.
