I agree completely. Appearently, the state will only allow so many exits off of Wyatt Earp and we have met our limit. Better yet, close off D through I streets!! LOL!

That would be a great idea Mike. Kinda like the tourist areas in other parts of the US. Getting rid of the Mexican Bars, and some of that would help too.

They already messed up the historic buildings with the "urban renewal". Most of what is left is junk. I agree with parking, it sucks.

Downtown is at least 50% hispanic shops. Would these stay in place?

Downtown dodge would be killer as an old west replica. Sort of an expansion of Boot Hill.

Of course downtown is a seasonal situation. During the cold winter months people are going to shop the Mall or Wal*Mart, but I think during the summer months people would much rather shop in a old west environment. As long as they don't pay twice as much for the experience.

Get some sort of common western theme with a boardwalk sidewalk, and get rid of them Mexican shops. Gees that make downtown look slummy.

Local businesses complain that they can't compete with Wal*Mart, but do nothing about it. Don't try and compete with Wal*Mart prices, that ain't gonna happen, compete where Wal*Mart can't.

Downtown dodge could be crawling with shoppers if it was done right.

THe thing is trying to find business's that would want to take the chance of being downtown. In a lot of places "open air" malls are becoming more popular. Downtown could be that way with a Penny's/Maurice's etc. I'm not sure how you get rid of the Mexican shops though as they pay rent like anyone else. Besides 75% of our population is hispanic why wouldn't you have hispanic shops downtown? You can't keep them all in south Dodge.

Before there was any money spent on a downtown project I would just like to see Dodge cleaned up a little. That would be a good start.

Are you talking about Dodge? LOL The only change coming is that the hispanic population will continue to grow in Dodge as long as we give illegals with the red carpet treatment when they come to town.
