I guess Ao1 it depends on where you believe yourself to be now. For most positive-minded people "change" means improving things, making things better. If you're in a bad place surely its better to try and get out of it even if there are risks attached to it.

I think for most "change" is viewed as a double edged sword.

If you find yourself doing better today than 10 years ago, then you may agree that some things need change, but you also realize seldom does change ONLY happen to what you want changed. You realize indeed things could be worse. For this reason you are leery of the idea of change.

If you find yourself worse off than you were 10 years ago, then you will feel that any change is better than the situation you are in now. You feel it's unlikely that change could be for the worse.

It's been my experience that change has never worked out as well as I planned.

Mind you I prefer any of yours to what we have here, Gordon Brown, the most dysfunctional control freakish and useless Prime Minister we've ever had in living memory! It almost makes me cry out, "Come back Tony B Liar".
Gordon Brown is “change” Binky. Embrace it, but don’t ask us to repeat your mistakes when we see them coming our way for the sake of "change".

We had "change" when Blair turned the job over to dysfunctional incompetent Brown without any reference to the electorate - at least under your democratic process you have a say in the matter.

As a matter of fact I believe your democratic process is far more "democratic" than ours - you have primaries, we don't; you have two elected assemblies, the Congress & Senate, we don't, we have an elected House of Commons and an unelected House of Lords. You elect your President, our Prime Minister is elected from within his own party.

Not to mention if a person's situation has changed for the better or worse they also need to lay responsibility OR blame where it should be layed. I don't blame the Gov't for any of my failures or success. A lot of people are worse off than they were and instead of stepping up and saying "it's my fault"...they blame the gov't.

I'm hearing a lot of "fear" over the subject of change - its very unlike you Americans, you're usually so positive! - embrace it and go forward. Change is never all good or all bad, but accentuate the positive ...... I feel a song coming on ....

I'm all about change...but I want change for the better. I don't want big tax increases for anyone...I don't want socialized medicine...etc. Those are changes we DON'T need.

I'm with AoO on this one. I'm all for change, but my experience with our government is we need to know which direction the change is headed.

To blindly say we want change is the wrong message to send our leaders.
