Our commissioners seem to have forgotten why the race track was built. The season is about to start and the schedule is set. It is too late to add any meaningful events because most venues are scheduled already. This year we only have one race that will bring people to Dodge to stay in our hotels and eat at our restaurants. That is the World Of Outlaws. Ed’s original contract gave him 250,000 for the year and called for him to put on the WOO show. After getting the contract he goes to the commiss’s and gets anther 100,000 to put on the WOO show. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying we shouldn’t have the WOO show, actually we need more shows like that. Shows like the nrca late model shoot out, the open wheel mania and the 360 sprints bring people from the surrounding states to Dodge City where they spend money. That’s what we built a six million dollar track for. We got those races for only 100,000 more under the previous promoter. If we are going to spend 350,000 a year to run the track lets spend a little more and bring some races to Dodge that will attract visitors to the area. The first year the track was dirt we spent 500,000 and brought in 5.4 million dollars of business. That’s a pretty good return on our money.

For the last three years the grandstands were open to the public and to come to see a bus blocking my and the hard working taxpayers of dodge city and ford county entrance is a disgrace.

This is from the dodge city raceway forum and is just one example of how the local racers think that our 6 million dollar track was built just for them. They feel the taxpayers of ford co. should have no say in what happens at our racetrack.Even though if it wasn’t for the taxpayers gift of 355,000 dollars this year they wouldn’t have a place to play.

I so agree--I drove 40 miles to watch practice only to drop my husband and 5 year old off and turn around and drive back home--they wanted $10.00 for my 13 month old to go in and watch. I totally understand the insurance liability they have but get real-I dont understand why they wouldnt open up the grandstands. I almost bet that if I go to Jetmore this Friday for practice my 5 year old, my 13 month old and myself can go up to the grandstands and watch practice for FREE!!!! And they wonder why people would just assume to go to Jetmore Motorplex--this is an example. I love the track in Dodge but this is very uncalled for. Wish that would have been posted on the DCRP website I wouldnt have wasted my gas or my time driving over there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess it does empty the trailer parks and keep the inhabitants out of walmart for a while.
