| Does anyone remember when we had just 3 TV channels and one of them usually didn't come in very good unless the weather was just right? And they all went off the air around midnight or 1 AM with the playing of National Anthem. On the weekends they would usually run a little later with a movie. And for a while there was Friday Night Fright, always a good monster movie or some other scary movie. Seems like after dark was the only time we watched much television and 3 channels was plenty.

| You know, we are getting together with a bunch of friends in a park in a week or so and we are playing Kick the Can and Ghost in the Graveyard. I'm so excited! The neighbors will be confused as to why grown adults are playing in the park but who cares. Life is short, play hard. |

| How about School where you sat on the front porch steps and the "teacher" put a rock in one hand and if you guessed the right one you got to move up a "grade" (step). Used to play that a lot. Or King Of The Mountain wherever there was new construction going on and there were tall piles of dirt. How about Annie Annie Over and throwing a ball over the roof and hoping someone would see and catch it on the otherside. Or Red Rosie Red Rosie send so and so over and you would run and try to break the chain formed by the other team holding outstreched hands. :s....marbles....trading baseball cards.... | How about... watching Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom! with Marlin Perkins, and Walter Cronkite with "and thats the way it is". Playing football with your friends all afternoon until after sunset. Catching Crawdads Friday for your Saturday bicycle fishing trip with your best friend. Sitting around the TV watching the Astronauts land on the moon in black and white. Hearing those freaky sonic booms. having to do those air raid drills in school. beating your best friend in a hotly contested game of marbles. Knowing the next day you would loose his marbles back to him plus some. doing absolutely nothing but roaming around with your friends and enjoying it greatly. when walking to school was still safe and having to walk a mile wasn't a big deal. It was a bigger deal when Mom took you to school on a rainy |
