Wal-Mart, Line 9 - No WHITES ALLOWED!

I just witnessed something very disturbing tonight at Wal-Mart.

I was getting ready to checkout at 10:50 pm after getting about 20 items and noticed that lines (11, 13, 15) were the only lines that were open and were way backed up. The number 9 line had the light turned off and the LANE CLOSED sign out but still appeared to be ringing up customers so I approached the end of that line which only had about 4 or 5 customers in line, when the cashier motioned to her sign to indicate she was closed. So I continued on to line 11 which was much longer.

As I was waiting in line, I noticed 2 other people do the same thing as me in line 9, and again they were motioned on to the other lines as it appeared she was finishing up some customers.

Since I waited in line for nearly 20 minutes, I had quite a bit of time to observe something that was very disturbing. People of Hispanic origin were allowed to continue to come and check through her line, but whites were being motioned to go to an "open" lane. I was not the only person to notice it. An elderly man, one of the ones that were motioned on, noticed it and got very upset and walked out and left his cart- he told the door attendant that they could put away the %$#&@*#%$ groceries and he was never coming back.

Apparently, the CSM noticed it too. Sandra, the supervisor was also my checker and I asked her if there was anything that could be done for the long lines. She said that there was nobody else that could check but these three and that line 9 was "supposed to be" closed so that she could go to the express lane because that person was off duty 20 minutes ago. Then after Sandra motioned to her to go to the other lane to relieve another girl, she still waited on one more person, a Wal-Mart employee, who was also Hispanic. Heck, they stood there and lolly gagged (in Spanish) for a long time while customers continued to stand and wait in the other lanes.

The CSM, having witnessed what was occuring, called the girl over and I could hear her say "Those people came in your line after your lane was closed, why did you continue to wait on those customers?". The girl told Sandra, in a heavy spanish accent, that "they are my customers and I care for my customers". That is when I couldn't contain myself and spoke up..."Aren't I your customer? Because you shoo'd me off to wait in one of the other lanes while still taking some "other customers". She abruptly turned and stammered away.

Fortunately, the CSM, Sandra, said she would talk to the manager and have something done about the ordeal.

Several people noticed the event unfold. It was very disturbing and I have to say that I have never personally witnessed anything so blatently racist in my entire life.

I would really be amazed if the manager even cares.

I’ve been Wal*Mart free for four and a half years.

That is really disturbing, but yet it doesn't really surprise me. If you wouldn't have shared your story here, no one would have probably ever found out about it. Now if they had a "white only" lane, it would be on the national news. My particular Wal-Mart in Wichita doesn't have quite the problems that the one in Dodge has, but I still much prefer to shop at our Super Target whenever possible.

I also had a rude experience this morning. Only one checker @ 6:00 & positioned in the center of all those registers. She wasn't speedy with the guy in front of me and when it was my turn, she excused herself to go talk with another employee.

She did apologize when she returned and I told her that I though she was rude.

Just advise them to make change (in good old english) or follow you to the parking lot with their supervisor and make the change there
hardly ever go to the above mentioned place but it has worked well
have a good day

Yup, I hate going into walmart! You can't get anyone to help you, and if you ask them a question it's like you were a big inconvience because they had to do their job. I try to go through the self checkout whenever possible, so I don't have to deal with the rude cashiers, but sometimes I wait in line, just to make them have to work. We were there one day, and while I was waiting in line, my husband and oldest daughter went and walked through the little clearance part they have where papa murphy's was, well there was a TV in there but my husband couldn't find a price on it. So he asked the lady that was working in there, she got all pissy with him and said if you'd look at it it's right there. When she walked over there she pointed to the sticker, well the sticker was on the side of the tv against the wall. My husband looked at her and said you can kiss my ass and if you don't want people to ask you prices maybe you should put the prices where the customers can see them, and walked out.

Walmart's are best immediately after a hurricane. Free stuff with friendly N. O. Police to act as see-curity.

Yeah this is the typical crap.

When I worked at Excel they always gave us a the "free" turkey dinner for Thanksgiving (nobody read anything into that OK!) and Christmas.

I was one fo the first ones through the line on one of those days and the "cooks" had a sign on the wall written in Spanish that said in a rough translation, "Don't get the turkey, it's dry. Excel gave us bad turkeys."

There was always a second choice of some kind of meat so they were telling their buddies to leave the dry stuff for the white guys.

The old bag who ran the place wasn't counting on the fact that one of the white guys read Spanish. So, I told her it was pretty fu!ked up that they would ruin the turkeys, blame it on soemone else and then try to feed it to us and not to everyone.

The sign was down in about 5 minutes.

And I brought my lunch from that day until they put the new cafeteria in with the new company.

I too had a bad experience Sunday night at walmart. My first problem was while shopping i had to use the restroom. Of course the stall I chose, in a hurry, didnt have ANY paper. Thank God for cell phones, so I could call for someone to come help me. I noticed after that , that each trash can in that bathroom was over flowing with paper. It was disgusting. I went over to check the paper on the door that is supposed to be their check off list for "checking" the bathroom through out the day. The date on that paper was 6-30.
I went to the fitting rooms and told the lady there about the bathroom and she told me that they didnt have maintnence on the weekends!!!! I was already at the end of my rope when I went up front to check out, and noticed the entire north end of the check out lanes to be CLOSED!! The lanes on the south end had people with very full carts standing 6 to 7 carts deep!!! One lane was so long that there were several mexican men so deep in line that they were curven back and standing against the candy wall!!!
In the process of trying to find the best line to get in, I decided to go up to the service desk and put the managers number in my phone, although since then Im thinking about calling Bentonville instead. The ladies up there were real nice and asked if i needed anything, I said "no, thankyou", and went to find my family again. We ended up checking out in electronics!!!!! Durring all that I saw several people that work there, folding clothes and stuff like that. I thought they were all trained to work the register and could fold clothes after the long long lines were gone. Now im all fired up again, and I know it is Tuesday, but Im still going to make that call.
