We have nothing to bitch about

Didn't know where to post this so when in doubt, go to the saloon....lol

Don't ask what I was researching because now I have forgotten, but you know how digging leads to who knows what....anyway I thought I would share some things that we have no idea about. We have been blessed by the ones that came before us.

Quote:
Left - One of the spinners in Whitnel Cotton Mill. She was 51 inches high. Has been in the mill one year. Sometimes works at night. Runs 4 sides - 48 cents a day. When asked how old she was, she hesitated, then said, "I don't remember," then added confidentially, "I'm not old enough to work, but do just the same." Out of 50 employees, there were ten children about her size. Whitnel, N.C. Mid - The overseer said apologetically, "She just happened in." She was working steadily. The mills seem full of youngsters who "just happened in" or "are helping sister." Newberry, S.C. Right - Jo Bodeon, a back-roper in the mule room at Chace Cotton Mill. Burlington, Vt.
The History Place - Child Labor in America

So with this in mind, I am thinking, WTF are our leaders doing destroying an America that was so hard to get to the point we are now....
ITS SHAMEFUL SH*T to say the least, that our legacy is being taken so lightly. And lest we forget, blacks were not the only slaves in America....

And are we really better off by coddling our children, hiding them from the value gained from learning to work in the real world?

FWIW, apprentice education will always beat what our current public school system instills.

I totally agree.

In some countries if by eighth grade if a child doesn't show higher education abilities they are then given the option of learning a trade.

Amazing how we go from one extreme to another without a middle ground.
