An underlying issue is how the city and others waste water. They do not seem to give a hoot about how fragile our water resources are. I have yet to see a city project that respects the aquifer.

I guess we will have to wait and see.
Garden City has handled this problem for several years with their bypasses and ordinances. I'm not sure, but I think Liberal has too.

Garden City has but Liberal has a long way to go but that's not here, the south bypass was to help with truck traffic but how many go through town? even when they can use 113 road their reply is "why when it's faster to go through town" Don't take me wrong I am all for the bypasses I just hope the ordinances are enforced 100% of the time not just a half assed attempt. on the matter of "watering the street" you can look at it this way if the City don't give a crap at least you have a free window wash. They should of bricked the medians. how much of our money goes to "maintaining" them?

You must have had the same design team we had for Vine Street in Hays. They even tried to plant trees under the interstate. After replacing them at least once because they died they finally figured out that there isn't enough light getting through the bridge.
Well now WAIT just a dern minute!....

Highway 400 goes through town until the SW bypass is finished. When that's done, 400 will go around town... and then the trucks can be told to, too.

semis allowed in residental areas? I saw a semi going down 6th steet with his trailer... doesn't sound right to me and also i know those brick streets can't handle semi's. I hate to see the brick covered with asphalt.

What kind of semi was it? I'm sure moving companies are allowed to go into residential areas as they have to move people out of their houses.

I’ve seen many medians that were pored concrete, stamped to resemble brick and dyed red. Areas were there were plants were low water plants instead of grass and watered with a drip system instead of sprinklers.

How long ago was East Wyatt Earp redone? I noticed today on it, in front of the depot theater, a lane wide pothole with a very good start. It just happens to be starting on the side closest to the median that has water going onto the street. It is in the Eastbound lane if anybody cares to look for it the next time they drive by.

Well, instead of complaining, I think the medians look great. Kudos to the ladies that work on it to keep it that way. Makes Dodge City look a lot nicer than just concrete, and helps our "trashy" image!
