    Angry Bad Day

I had a very bad start today and this is what happened....

I went to the courthouse to get my tags as they are a day overdue lol! I know last minute, but I did not expect what happened to happen. I was told I would have to pay a delinquent property tax from Ford County before I could obtain my 2010 tags! I was pissed to say the least. I was told I had past property taxes from 97, 98, and 99 and this was the first time EVER I had heard anything about this. No mail, no name in the paper..NOTHING! Property taxes totalling $542.46!!!! This was on a mobile home I sold in 1997 I believe but not sure, and sure the hell don't remember at this time, but I sold it and I am trying to reach old friends as I know things that happened around that time; that would put a year at least. Now Get this!!!! I had to pay the amount before I could get my tags so I asked if I could pay payments until we could get this matter settled, as I know this is ridiculous, as I always paid my taxes. They said the person who could authorize that was gone from the office, which fine, ok, but nobody else in the office can authorize this while this person is abscent??? Oh and they tell me the reason they did not send me a letter because they must of not known where I was BUT they knew my previous addresses after that one??? OKKKKKKKKKKK! Give me a damn break will ya. This Mobile Home was very old and if anyone who knows me knows that as most of Dodge City partied there one time or another. hahahaha! They had on record it was a 1978, which is false. To get my tags today I had to pay over $700!!!!! I am protesting it and I will keep you updated as my prepaid attorney team will be handling this matter.

Is Dodge City so hard up for money now they have to make up crap to get it? They did this same thing with my nephew. I have never heard of such BS. If they tried to contact me in this matter it would be one thing, but I have never ever heard anything about this as it NEVER happened!!!

Has this happened to anyone else???

When I sold my place in Dodge way back when the abstract search came up with 3 unpaid liens. Pardon me if I don’t remember the realtor off the top of my head but he’s probably gone by now anyway. When I bought the place there was money withheld from the seller to pay outstanding liens. They didn’t get paid.

I walked my young butt into the realtor’s office and informed him that he was going to pay the liens off. He got cocky and said “Why should I do that?” I laid out the documents were he had escrowed the money to pay the liens and the documents were he didn’t pay them. Yeah, he committed fraud and I had proof. His attitude changed real quick and it was taken care of first thing the next morning.

So my question becomes since you sold it the same year that the back taxes started, could someone have misfiled paperwork somehow and screwed you over that way? I’d check the title and tax records for the period in question to see what happened to the records of the sale and if the taxes were paid by the new owner or not. If the new owner didn’t file the change of title when he should of, it could be the problem.

BTW, three years of not paying taxes might have put the property into a tax sale for the back taxes. While you’re checking records, check your credit report. I hope you have all of your documents.

Excuse my ignorance here but what are "tags" - just curious. Over here tags are things the Police put on offenders ankles to monitor their movements!!

Pootsy, I wish you the best of luck. When you prove that you are right and they are wrong just sue the sh!t out of them. Then you can rename the town Pootsy's. After you rename the town you can get rid of the "Why not Dodge" motto.

if you think you truly own something then ignore the tax on it...

    My Dearest Poot.

Your experience with this taxation entity will seem like child's play in just a few short years.
