Today's HutchNews has some interesting quotes:

"The giant here in southwest Kansas is waking up," said Concha Aragon, a Ulysses woman who's helping form a southwest Kansas chapter of Hispanos Unidos, a Hispanic advocacy group. "It's becoming conscious that we can take action."

"I think they're going to continue until they change (immigration law)," said Ernesto Hinojosa, a disc jockey with La Nueva, the Garden City-based Spanish-language radio station that helped spread word about Monday's rallies. "I think it'll go to the very end."

"We realized that we were truly unified as one in fighting for our interests."


"That was the call to arms and action around the country,"

"They're going to take it personal," Escalante said. "I would go and rally and do whatever I had to do."

"They adjusted their PR campaign and dressed in white and had thousands of American flags purchased for them by organizers," Keeley said. Leaflets in the lead-up to Monday's activities asked participants to carry U.S. flags and wear white as a symbol of peace.

Nonetheless, Hispanic activists here say something more is afoot.

"That was the call to arms and action around the country,"..... If this was the call to arms and action, then I'd suggest that they go see Army of One and join his outfit for some real action. Otherwise, I suggest that they realize that they are un-invited, un-documented and illegal occupants of this country.

Copping this attitude isn't going to endear the majority of the US Voters to their cause.

Yeah they were real cocky at the Alamo too.............. Wasn't so spiffy during the 18 minutes at San Jacinto.............. they lost Texas cause of thier arrogant attitude. They will lose this too. Actually when it comes to the majority of voters......... they have already lost. Now they just need to be shown the road home.

Well, if you say anything against them, he gets all up in arms. So if he is gonna protect them, then he must wanna work with them too!

Immigration 'Solutions': Part IV

Shaky political arguments for going easy on illegal immigrants are sometimes backed up by equally shaky economic arguments.

There is, of course, the perennial favorite that we "need" immigrants to "do work that Americans won't do." But what is the basis for this claim?

What specific jobs in this country are performed exclusively by immigrants? Indeed, in what jobs are immigrants an absolute majority? Those who make this sweeping claim seldom offer a speck of evidence to support it.

In some particular places, such as California, agricultural jobs seem to be almost exclusively filled by immigrants. But, in a country with huge agricultural surpluses costing the taxpayers billions in subsidies and storage costs, why is there a "need" for more workers to increase the surpluses and the costs?

Do You Really Believe Illegal Immigrants Will Save Social Security?

One of the more idiotic arguments in favor of open borders is that, due to the declining birthrate of our selfish society, we need millions upon millions of impoverished foreigners to rush in to support our bleating aging baby boomers in their extended and lethargic retirements.

The only correct thing about this argument is that it recognizes that Social Security is simply a pyramid scam, always in need of increasing numbers of young new victims to tax in order to support the old (and the “disabled”) at a level far beyond their average contributions.

But I got news for you, boomers. There are two big reasons why Jose and Maria aren’t going to be able to fill that role as the extra little mijos you never bothered to have, and thus cannot now leech upon.

naaaa - Army's OK. He mighta said something in support of hispanics - I didn't go back and look at his posts. But I do know he won't have one of them on his 'team' if they don't speak English. Can you imagine how that would hamper our troops if there was even one that couldn't speak English?

Why would you say I am never happy. It's NOT up to me to FIND something wrong with anyone. I just do prequalification on people to see if they meet the minimum standards that the Army has to enlist. Speaking SOME English is nice...lol. Having an I551 card helps too.
