'Minuteman' Border Volunteers Take 12-City Trek

LOS ANGELES -- The Minuteman Project civilian border patrol group planned to kick off a 12-city tour Wednesday to build support for its get-tough border stance in the wake of pro-immigant rallies around the country.

Organizers said they will use the caravan, which is scheduled to finish on Capitol Hill, to mobilize voters and recruit members. The group is made up of volunteers who patrol the border and strongly oppose illegal immigration.....

I love the MM...... but I gotta say....... did anyone see the "fence" they were building?......... I hope it's more than 4 strands of barbed wire and the "throw down fence" like I have in part of my yard. That's what they showed on CNN. It was not an impressive fence for $150 a foot....... hell I could and have put the same fence up for a whole lot cheaper......... they were using metal stakes and attaching the "fence" to it........... is this really thier fence?????? I'm feeling a little disappointed here..... somebody help me.......

This is what the fence is supposed to look like according to the Minuteman website. It is scheduled to begin construction on Memorial Day unless the government gets their act together before then and starts to build it.

They could add a bunch of those turnstile thingies to allow for easy exits back to Mexico.

I knew it was supposed to be a hell of a lot more than what I saw bein put up. Was wondering if anyone else saw the piece I did on CNN. Maybe they were just "practicin".......... but after askin for $150 a foot........ I was disappointed in what I saw them doin. Now they are takin a road trip...... which is great - but the story line was that they were "building thier own fence" - it aired May 1st. I'm hopin that I see a "real" fence soon.

In the 1960s Protection was where to go to get that kind of protection.
Quote:
the Lane Myers Company of Protection, Comanche County, Kansas was the leading supplier of concertina entanglement wire used on U. S. Army Engineer installations worldwide. Concertina wire is basically thick, heavy barbed wire. The barbs are close together and the wire is manufactured to curl, making it unsatisfactory for fencing.

But (as usual) CONgress is placing the solution in the wrong hands by touting the amnesty option that will surely attract a huge wave of crossings; yet 4437 suggests that employers should face huge fines for giving them work while CONgress critters are crying about how difficult it is to round them up and take them back to their home country..... everything about this is wrong.

I wouldn't waste a dime on fencing or make it a crime to give a willing worker some work. We should make it 'economically impractical' to be here without legal papers by imposing a huge fine when caught.

But Lurker.... how do we collect those fines...they are broke when they get here... unless I am missing what you are saying...

They already spent their $3000.00 on coyote's to get them here... and there we go again ... we would have to give shelter, food, medical, creature comforts to them at taxpayers expense ...but that wouldn't be so bad I guess if we could follow Sheriff Arpaios take on incarceration.... at least that would be more cost effective.....and we know already ...catch and release doesn't work....

Are you meaning fines for the illegals ...or fines for the folks that hire them...then there is the problem with "fake papers"....I think even the citizens that hire them would be willing to get them papers

seems a fence ....for now .... at least is a bandaid until a better solution can be found.....let me rephrase that ....
a bandaid until our government decides to uphold the laws already on the books....
Really ....this whole issue is so mind boggling , I now have the beginings of a headache....

With adequate follow-through, I'd bet we wouldn't have 1% in lockup.... The other 99% would hurry-up & get their very own asses back where they came from AND at their own expense.

We have trouble keeping up with the gang activity they bring with them. We are talking "human traffiking"........ we can't catch them.... that's what one of the issues is.

And who is gonna do the follow thru????................ cops?.......... have ya seen the shortage as it is??????? Citites are beggin for cops..........

I agree we need to penalize those that do the hirin............ but whose gonna enforce all the laws on the books now??????// At least a fence will slow em down.............. I still say it's gonna come to some ugly bloodshed.

We cant send our Nat. guards....... they are gone already. Yet what's going on is a breach of our National borders........... just cause they are countries that touch our borders don't make it OK............ I think we should call in the jets........ set up some 50 cals and really guard the border - you don't have to killem to scare em. After awhile it wouldn't be as much fun as they remember it bein. We could go ahead and kill the coytoes - OR offer a reward for the coyotes........... kinda like the old days...........
