What difference does it make? The local cops are trying to enforce local, state and federal laws. They do this already. The problem is that IF they pick up illegals.... the Feds won't come get them till they want to - which won't be till they have the manpower to do so. If the locals detain them - it's up to the local city gov to foot the bill. What they are saying is - you call the feds you house them till we show up ( did ya see anything bout a bus route at least once a week?) and IF you choose to let them go (which is what they do now cause it's costing the taxpayor to house them) then there will be NO reimbursement for said houseing......... this is another shell game with federal money, state money and local money. Don't get so excited...... there ain't nuthin gonna change here except - the fellers that get picked up are gonna wind up takin more of your tax dollars and the feds will "eventually" trickle some money down to the relieve the city IF the detainees are actually kept. Taxpayors aren't willing to take care of the perps family thru assistance and provide the perp a nice crib too. So basically they are now asking the city jails to give sanctuary to any illegal that is caught or don't look for Fed reimbursement on the prisoner. It's like ya don't get paid unless you can actually deliver a prisoner. That way the feds will look like they are tough on immigration. I bet right now there is just a lump sum being paid whether or not there are actual illegals to pick up or not. I don't think this is what ya might think it is.......... it's the feds playin the blame game of an obvious long standing problem. I'd be willing to bet it's gonna cost that state more to actually pick them up now. I just kinda thought it looked like the states are bein forced into "assisting" the poor illegal kinda like the Catholic charaites are doin now.......... personally I think this sucks...........

I vote for screwin the Federal money - take the local money hire some good Americans needin a job and buy a couple of busses to make weekly runs to the border. It's gonna be cheaper in the long run and you will see some results from your tax $$...........

ONE last thing........ IF they come over here with no papers......... why the hell do we have to do so much damn paperwork to take thier asses home?????............
