Packing plant closing for demonstration?

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Seaboard Corp. said it will close its Guymon, Oklahoma, pork plant on Monday to allow workers to attend rallies planned for that day in support of immigration reform, the company said.

The plant has a daily hog slaughter capacity of about 16,000 head, the company said.

On Tuesday, Cargill Inc. said its five beef plants and two hog plants will be closed on Monday for the rallies.

Does that include Dodge City? Hell, I guess it's a holiday then. Guess I should march about something, maybe I would get the day off. In MY opinion the packing plants giving them the day off just exacerbates the problem. Hell, the packing plants ARE part of the problem. They hire the illegals. I wonder what happens if we have knowledge of illegals and we report it? Anything????????

The way I understand it National closed for the last protest. Or at least the people attending were given Saturday, Sunday and Monday off.

I would suspect they(packinghouses) figure since most of their employees are Illegal or Hispanic there's not much since in being open with no one to work.

Oh well they're only shooting themselves in the foot.

The only people they're hurting is the ones that will hire them in the first place.

And the packer closing down for a day, just saves them some big bucks, makes them look like they support the workers, and by slowing supply, could increase demand, and price---

Makes them look like they have been breaking Fed law for ever and they are raising a flag telling everyone that.............OH>............ that's what thier employees are doin too............... Maybe if someone lit a match while they were closed it might help the situation out.............. NO place to work............ NO illegals............. Oh Hell...... I forgot that's what the LAWS are supposed to do.....................

Very close to upper management at National Beef...

The union in Liberal threatened to strike if they were not given Monday off, so the plant caved in and said yes. Whatever is done in Liberal is done in Dodge. Offices will be open, but the plant is closed.

I told my source that I will personally fight any and all tax abatements that either plant brings in the future. They have chosen their side.

I personally will be shopping in force and waving my American flag and singing in ENGLISH.

I think the retaliation over this is going to be really ugly. From my perspective I otta have a really slow day at the clinic........ since most of the kiddos I see are packin a Mexico shot record............... Ya know they ain't gonna go without...... Sunday ya won't be able to get in the store cause they are gonna be stockin up................LOL LOL.............. what a statement. They are just gonna piss folks off and make the divide even wider and closer to violence. Then they are gonna whine when someone beats the crap outta them for bein brown.......... the lawyers are linin up now.....
