Well I didn't feel real good about myself because I'm not a violent/confrontational person but the Irish in me just couldn't resist. We had a bit of a language barrier but we managed to get our intentions across through body language if ya know what I mean.

I had a bit of an altercation at Wal*Mart with an illegal. He was flying a Mexican Flag on his antenna with an American flag upside down below it. As I walked by I tore the American flag off and told him I wouldn't stand for our flag to be displayed that way.

After a few words about breaking the law he told me with a straight face that illegals didn't need to obey American laws because he's not a citizen. I was a a loss for words because for all I know this could be true. When they break the law they usually get deported not sent to jail.

So is this the case? Are these illegals able to jump the boarder get false ID's and SS#'s apply for government assistance get their kids schooled for free and they aren't bound by our laws because they aren't citizens?

If its not the case then someone needs to clue these clowns in. If it is the case then that just F**ck'd UP.

If you see someone disrespecing the American Flag and you have a cell phone....call me. 255-6723. Myself, a couple of other soldiers and a couple of Marines could be there in just a few minutes to tactfully correct the situation.

It's easy to jump in the middle of a conversation - we all do it. It is wiser though to read posts of someone before you make an assumtion about what ONE posts means.

First - I am old enough to have been a part of the civil rights movement. I hardly doubt if I could ever confuse the two.................. Just a clarification.

Second - MLK day in the deep south IS a BBQ holiday. Yeah there are parades and such but the holiday is no longer about civil rights - it barely is about celebrating MLK. Kinda what we have done with July 4th. We all talk the talk but very few of us take to the streets and celebrate our independence. Could be cause it's goin down the drain at this point. Could be cause the majority of us would rather sit by the beach and BBQ.

Exacty Ms. Texie. These people, the illegals marching has nothing to do with nor should EVER be compared with the civil rights marchers of the MLK days. Those people were at least citizens.

It's not about getting in trouble or being violent, it's about tactfully educating someone about something we call CUSTOMS and COURTESIES....IE: HOW to properly display the flag. Once we explain this with tact and finesse and then they choose not to do it...then we just reclaim the flag....lol...with tact of course. I cannot stand to see our flag disrespected. I DO however respect our freedom of speech and such and I DO understand that CITIZENS (keyword) do have a right to protest and even burn a flag (would have a hard time seeing that)...but when criminals, not citizens, illegals...want to disrespect the flag....they need a class on Customs and Courtesies...

Hey Detector. Bless you for standing up for what is right and what you KNOW is right. Character is someone taking the hard right over the easy wrong. It's easy to walk away when you see something wrong but sometimes it's better to address the issue. You are a true American!
