Back to Kennedy, here’s a few lines from Alan Gottlieb of the Second Amendment Foundation;

"I'd rather go quail hunting with Dick Cheney than get in a car being driven by a Kennedy," said Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) founder Alan M. Gottlieb. "As it stands right now, I think Congress should consider mandating drug testing of its members before they vote on legislation that would take away any of our civil rights…..

Gottlieb said that under federal law, 18 USG 922(G)(3), now that Kennedy has admitted he has a drug problem, it is probably illegal for him to own a gun.

"Why should he, or his father, have the gall to sponsor, lobby for and especially vote on any kind of legislation that would restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners," Gottlieb said. "Both of these guys must think that average American gun owners are as irresponsible with their firearms as they have been with their automobiles.

"It's no wonder, when you think about it, how some legislation gets passed on Capitol Hill," Gottlieb said, "when the people voting on it may not be sober or are under the influence of drugs."

That is to say we can safely assume these "high ranking officials" were not republicans.

What I find disturbing, if true, is that little attention is being paid to the officials that broke police policy to protect a politician. It just goes to show how Americans accept political corruption as common procedure.

You cannot unite those who wish to be divided. The Dems hated him from day one. He could shit gold bricks and they would have bitched about them being cubed and not round. Garuntee you if Gore would have won the country would be just as divided because he is hated even more by the Pubs.

Boston: A plane carrying US Senator Edward M. Kennedy from western Massachusetts to his home on the coast was struck by lightning and had to be diverted to New Haven, Connecticut, his spokeswoman said.

The eight-seat Cessna Citation 550 plane lost all electrical power, including communications, and the pilot had to fly the plane manually, according to spokeswoman Melissa Wagoner. No one was hurt.

The Democrat had just delivered the commencement address at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams and was on his way to his Cape Cod home when the plane was struck around 4 pm, she said.

The jet landed safely at New Haven at 4:11 pm on Saturday, said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Murray. A report was filed with the agency, which will look into the incident, she said.

Kennedy planned to stay in Connecticut overnight because he was scheduled to return to western Massachusetts yesterday to deliver a commencement address at Springfield College, Wagoner said.
