Bush administration scores a 10 with this appointment!

Actress Bo Derek to Speak on Wildlife Trafficking Issues

Deputy Secretary of State Robert B. Zoellick will welcome movie actress Bo Derek to a discussion of Wildlife Trafficking on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the Department’s Dean Acheson Auditorium.

On the occasion of Earth Day 2006, Ms. Derek, who has been a strong advocate for wildlife conservation issues, will speak out against Wildlife Trafficking. Deputy Secretary Zoellick, who last year won the "Song of the Whale Award" from the International Fund for Animal Welfare for his work to eliminate the indiscriminate use of driftnets on the high seas, will kick-off the event.

Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Dr. Paula Dobriansky will then launch a panel discussion of trade and the environment, wildlife and forest conservation, and water issues. The panel will be chaired by Assistant Secretary for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Claudia McMurray. Other participants in this discussion will include Peter Knights, WildAid; John Berry, Director of the National Zoo; and Julian Braithwaite, Counselor for Global Issues, Embassy of the United Kingdom in Washington.

This event is open for press coverage. Members of the press who do not have a State Department building pass should arrive at the 23rd Street entrance by 1:00 p.m. for clearance through security and access to the Dean Acheson Auditorium.

Media representatives may attend this briefing upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).

I'll have to dig out my mink and photo ID and see if they will let me in........

Actually I saw her on TV bout 4 years ago about his stuff.......... she made lots of sense but truth is I was more worried bout the state of DC and the rest of the nation to worry bout folks that traffik animals. I know it's a gruesome business......... but then the coyotes trafficking tacos are a much bigger traffick issue to me............ sorry fellas.......... but it'll be a great photo time for all and maybe someone will get the riding lessons.........
