| I was actually more in agreement with his speech than I thought I would be before it started. I agree that it is a little too little and too late but I guess we have to start somewhere. I don't mind people coming to this country as that is what our country is based on but I do care if they are coming illegally. Word, did you mean to say amenesty? I thought I heard the President saying he was against amnesty. I personally am still figuring out how I feel about the subject myself. I am educating myself on the issues surrounding this and trying to keep up with news and protests.     |

| I've heard the remark that "its a start" but when your house is ablaze and you're offered a cup of water don't be surprised when it gets ignored. A start in this case is sealing the boarder nothing less. We find ourselves in a pathetic position to actually consider which criminals we must allow to stay. The reason we must do this is because 10 years ago and 20 years ago we were happy with "its a start."

| What gets me is that he wants to lump the guest worker program and the amnesty program in with securing the border, or he doesn't want to look at it. I say you fix the border first, then debate the other issues. He keeps saying that what he proposed is not amnesty, but where I am from, letting somebody off without punishment for a crime they commited is called amnesty.

| I can tell you that the conservative column writers that normally support Bush policies are fit to be tied. Mostly they sound just like Bubba’s above post.

| I hope that Rush Limbaugh isn't one of them. I couldn't bear to have the same opinion as him. He is a horse's ass as far as I am concerned. Hopefully it is people like Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity, I wouldn't mind being associated with their views.

| Well it's pretty obvious that what the masses think doesn't matter. As long as politicians can get thier pockets lined or get a "favor" for themselves or a friend............ they are gonna vote like they are the only ones that count. I see a big change commin............. just afraid it will be too soon........ this may be the year when they have an election and everyone votes for porky pig................. I think eventually folks will be in the streets on this stuff.
