I see Minority Leader Harry Reid has been calling the nation language amendment “racist.” The amendment belabors the obvious. 90% of this country speaks English and proclaiming what is already a fact is just politics. But when Democrats fail to have a good argument against something they resort to calling it racist. There is a drift toward Spanish being an accepted language and we do need to stop that foolishness. Just look north to Canada where part of the country speaks English and part speak French. A few years ago it almost tore the country apart. A common language unites us as one people regardless of our heritage.

I had to use some plain English just this evening.... My neighbors didn't do a good job of raising their daughter; so they're now trying to raise their daughter's two bastard children. (go figger)

Tonight was the second time I came home to find their daughter's chilllllren using my front porch as a playpen. The prior time I scolded the children.... tonight I scolded the grandparents.

It's not over; but I've established my position on this matter and that position is over territory and ownership and control of same. In Mexico, the same problems exist but the private-border is defined by a nice stucco wall with broken shards of brightly colored glass protruding from the top..... Tragically, that's illegal here, even though it's universally understood down south.

The Big guys in England didn;t like some of hte smaller guys so the smaller guys left. Once they got over here, the Big guys figured since their people were coming over here they should send over more folks to keep an eye on them, and to get wood and whatever else they could find and send it back.

There were some folks already here, and we got help from some, attacked by some but since they were mostly in the way, we moved them.

Some french folks wandered over, and some Italians, Some Irish folks (The Hopkins clan in my line) and they worked pretty hard to build a new land.

The Big guys from England decided that the guys trying to build the land were getting a bit urulely and they tried to reign them in. It didn't work, and we whooped up on them.

We founght the guys that were here before us, and the french seemed to come and go to help is fight England, and to fight the people that were here beofre us too. with their help, we whooped them too. The french must have liked it in Canada, because that is where they ended up. (there was a group that wandered down into the swamps to speak some french, but they all married each other and made movies with Burt Reynolds.)

Well, we must have got guns in our blood, because we ended up fighting each other, since half the country at the time wanted to leave because of economics and slaves. They lost.

The US expanded west, acquired Territories and god forsaken places like Alaska. ( A place full of Moose and Eskimos.) I guess you could say that we civilized and tamed the land. Except civilized is a general and broad term that doesn;t seem like it should be used since it too over 100 years for some folks to be treated just like everyone else.

The interesting thing, and the binding thing, is that all these things were done, and recorded in some form of english. And yes, I put my books in the trunk of my car, not the Boot, and I don't eat spotted Dick (no dirty comments) or bangers and mash. I certainly don;t drink tea with my pinky out, in fact I don't drink tea at all. But I do know that when orders are barked in the Army, Navy, Airforce or Marines, it is done in English. When the president of the US speaks, it is in English. When I sing the national anthem or hold my hand over my heart (after taking my hat off,) and say the pledge, I do it in english.

Diversity is me enjoying a coming of age party for the nieghbors daughter who happens to be Puerto Rican. All done in English except for a prayer by her father. It is going to a samoan wedding ceremony where it is tradition to thrown money at the bride as she dances (again, keep the dirty thoughts at bay,) also done and explained in English. It is going to the local mall and playing on a giant chess board against a guy from the Ukraine, while speaking to him, in English about his country. It is me traveling to Tiawan and China and trying to learn as much of the language as I can, because when they come to visit me, they try to speak english.

We don't have an official language inthe US, but we cetainly have a defacto language. I hope that we can pass a bill making it the official language.

I don;t think we shoudl go around expecting that everyone in the world speak english, but I can tell you this, that anyone in International business speaks it.

There are alot of reasons to speak english and to expect it. The one unique thing about the US is that anyone from anywhere can come here, and learn the language and become an American. It is something that identifies them strongly with the country and culture. However Even if I am fluent in Japanese or Chinese, I can never go to China or Japan and be Chinese or Japanese. I am always an American.

I suppose you can play semantics and say that since we don't speak the Kings English, we are speaking some Cockney, jive, ebonic version of a *******ised cousin to it, but you were wasting time, and straining at gnats. English is my language, America is my home. I don;t wnat to wait a 1/2 hour for a rodeo to start while they play the national Anthem in 40 different languages, and I am already getting tired of turning a box at the grocery store over 6 different times before I find the directions in my native language.

If you want to think the we are the jerks of the world, and that we are zionist, feel free to do that. But believe in God or not, (I happen to think he gave us this land for a reason) we have a pretty great place here in the US. WE have a government that manages to screw things up pretty good, but looking around, I would rather be here than anywhere else. I also think that because of our freedoms, we are under an obligation to help others that are being killed, opressed, or otherwise abused. and we are going to do all of that in English.

You can jabber to me in whatever language you choose, but if you are wanting my time and effort, it better be in my countries adopted language or you might just get some universal sign language.
