It sounded serious at the time but its funny now. The cops told the staffers to stay in their offices and not go into the hallways. If they had to go, use the wastebasket. Wow! Rough day at the office.

Congress wasn’t in session but I heard a Kennedy was seen bravely attempting to break through the barricades to get in to vote.

The Rayburn House Office Building was locked down for more than four hours today after a New Jersey congressman reported hearing the sound of gunfire in the building's garage.

Welp, it's true... shots were fired by an AIR (these are the devices that go "wiff-wiff-wiff" and not BANG-BANG-BANG) nail gun.

What really tickles me is the onliest Government work being done:

The Senate had been in session at the time of the incident. the House had already snuck off for the first official "summer Friday" of the year, except for the House Intelligence Committee.

Yup. We skrewed.

The story I heard in an interview with a construction guy was there are bump strips at the entrance to the garage that make a noise when driven across. He came rolling in with a forklift that has those hard rubber tires.

I wonder how many balloons are going to be popped around the congress critter’s office that called in the report of gunfire.
