I see that as part of the checks an balances thing in the Constitution that W has done his best to chip away at from the beginning.

To him, and you evidently, any judge who interprets the Constitution differently than you do is an "activist judge."

Next it will be those "activist" members of Congress who's hands we need to take the issue out of because they won't vote how he wants.

To me W is nothing more than an "activist" president trying to impose his moral will on everyone else.

What's more disgusting is that he's doing his best to direct attention from real issues and, as the cartoon points out, that's how he keeps those single issue voters in line.

If you were a newly naturalized US Citizen, you would have proven your knowledge of how our government is structured:

• Legislative Branch enacts laws.
• Executive Branch signs or vetoes laws plus Commands the military.
• Judiciary Branch only interprets laws.

What's wrong with the state of the Union today is that the balance of power is stacked instead of level. The Supreme Court has taken a stance of legislation from the bench and that must be stopped. As it currently stands, the Supreme Court is the most powerful entity in our lives - followed by the media - followed by the Executive Branch - followed by the Bureaucracy - and the least powerful is the Legislative Branch.

"When judges insist on imposing their arbitrary will on the people, the only alternative left to the people is an amendment to the Constitution: the only law a court cannot overturn," he said.

So some laws were stripped and re-written by the Judiciary Branch, and George wants to begin to fix that.

FWIW, I don't care if you want to marry your sister, or your brother; or even a velvet purse. But I do care about a runaway Judiciary and I understand why this tactic is being pursued.
