FREE MEALS all year!!!

Source: http://www.dodgeglobe.com/stories/06...60613005.shtml

Quote:
Students in the USD 443 school district can eat for free during the summer at several schools.

USD 443 is continuing its summer food service program, which provides nutritious meals to students age 1-18 for free and for adults at a reduced cost. For adults, breakfast is $1.60 and lunch is $3.10.

In June, Beeson, Linn, Northwest, Central, Miller and Sunnyside elementary schools; Soule Intermediate Center; Comanche Intermediate Center; Dodge City Middle School; and Dodge City High School will be open.

In July, Linn, Sunnyside and Miller elementary schools and Comanche Intermediate Center will be open.
Breakfast is served from 7:30-8:30 a.m., and lunch is served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

"We have about 70-75 percent of free or reduced students," said Konrade. "We felt like it was very important to continue the program throughout the summer."
Last week, USD 443 served breakfast to 640 students and lunch to more than 1,500 students.
So about "70-75 percent" of our students qualify for free or reduced meals? Now thats really depressing...

Relieving families of the responsibility of providing meals for their children further promotes the Bastardization of America.

What I find disturbing is that our government seems to feel we have unlimited funds and our schools don't mind handing it out.

This is not meant as a racial bash just stating some facts.

I would venture a guess a visit to one of these "free meals" would find the scene similar to a boarder gathering. IF 70-75% of our students "qualify for free/reduced meals", which seems to be about the estimated amount of Hispanic students, one would expect to see this same poverty around town.

While I do see the occasional immigrant driving an old Buick the vast majority I see drive an Escalade or Durango. Hardly what you would consider in-need of free meals. Remember, we're talking 70-75% here so by that alone we should be seeing these poverty stricken immigrants in the wild as well.

Its not hard to deduce that someone is doing a bit of lying. If all one needs do is lie to the school system about their income to qualify we have a problem. First in that the government needs better checks in the system before doling out our cash. And second, the school system needs to take a bit of responsibility of their own before freely handing out our cash.

Typical liberal system.

I knew someone who knew someone who lived with someone who worked at 443 in their free food for poor kids department so I know what I'm saying when I say that this program is more Gummit welfare for Skrewuls.

They bill US (taxpayers) more than their costs; so it's a profit center in 443. More eaters ='s more $$$$

Not a bit surprised.

Ya know I've looked around town and have yet to see one of these "poor immigrant cabbage pickers making $4 and hour" that we hear about. In fact what I see are new home owners and business owners doing quite well for themselves. Yes its worth a dash across the border to a country eager to hand out free cash.

By the writeup in the Globe one would get the impression the school system is even patting themselves on the back for handing out our cash. I'll bet these same people complain about government spending

Government assistance did to the Negros what hundreds of years of slavery couldn't: it destroyed their family structure. Next came "welfare families" of all races and hybrids.

Mexicans have a long history of strong families; but one generation later we'll see what we're already seeing....

And Hellary's waiting to pounce.

It was in the paper that by having more free lunch recipients they get federal grant money. That is one statistic that I would be ashamed to show up on the list.

My challenge is... for anybody that lives near, or can go to one of the schools that are giving away the free lunches, to go there on a daily basis for one week and take pictures of the inside of the dumpsters to see how much of the "free food" is being thrown away!

Seems to me that alot of people are forgetting that there are kids involved here. Some of these kids only get to eat at school. Why should the kids have to suffer for their parents stupidity? That goes for white kids, black kids, and brown kids.
MY challenge to you is to go there every day with your children under 18, or grandchildren and feed them lunch.. it did say they can eat free. Adults at a reduced cost. Then check the trash can if you please.

I understand what you're saying but which would you prefer, to teach kids living off the government/others is OK or teaching newcomers they need to take responsibility for feeding their kids themselves? We're not doing these kids any favor by giving them free food, Especially since I'd bet 70% don't need it anyway. What we're doing it raising generations of government fed babies. We got enough of those already.

When I was in grade school the kids that received free or low cost lunches had to work in the cafeteria emptying trays or help to serve. I know that wouldn't fly these days but they exchanged some work for their lunch. I agree with the fact that we are teaching these kids to depend on the gov't. And what's bad is...say the school lunch program got cut a bit, those people would bitch at the gov't because they think that is owed to them. They should try working a bit more, going to school, or not driving the escalade. As with every other gov't program there is plenty of fraud, waste and abuse and not enough people get held accountable for it. That sucks because the people that lose in the end is the taxpayers...grrrrrr. IF more people starting asking questions and getting involved instead of watching American Idol you might see SOME change...

I also agree that the kids have to eat. Don't blame the gov't though, blame the deadbeat parents.
