There is going to be a special meeting in the Rose Room of the Lora Locke city building on Monday evening at 7 pm about this composting facility that JAG wants to build. If you want to oppose this make sure you are there.

What Tee has above is exactly what was in the paper. Nobody knows what is going to be composted, you might assume that they will compost and recycle concrete, in fact that might be what Coffin and Hernandez are hoping for. But, if it isn't all spelled out and settled before-hand, it might be ending up that it is manure or paunch from Excel or who knows what else.......The county doesn't know that much more from what I gather, all that was brought in was an application. There was no business plan or any other explanation filed with it.

At the meeting last night it was found out that it is a planned recycling and composting of trash, paunch and who knows what else. He had plans of bringing in the trash from Meade county, Ellis County and others. Was told it was supposed to handle 300 tons per day!?! When people with property around the proposed area brought up concerns about the smell, Hernandez told them it shouldn't affect them since the wind in the summer is out of the southwest and the smell would just blow into Dodge City.

Hernandez doesn't even live here, so he has no concerns about what smells blow into Dodge City. If he contaminates the groundwater and gets sued, this business is just an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation), so he will just walk away and then it would probably fall into the counties lap making us the taxpayers pay for any awards in a lawsuit.

A meeting is scheduled for the evening of the 24th in front of the zoning board. Citizens who oppose are encouraged to attend.

50 or so people showed up for the meeting and voiced disapproval for this compost site. You would think with all the dsapproval and nobody but the owner of the compost site "for it", that it would meet an early defeat.

They tabled the decision and took no action. Just like they did with Chamness, they will continue to table the issue until the crowd dwindles and they can sneak it through without so much interferance. This is status quo for our commisioners.

When they want something (for whatever reason) that the community does not want, they never vote it down, they just keep continuing it "for a later date" until they think they can get away with cramming it down our throats.

Take a stand!! Get some Balls, and SAY NO to bribes!!!

Tee, you really need to know what group you are talking about. The meeting on Monday night was that of the Ford County Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Not the Ford County Commissioners. This committe is an advisory committee to make recommendations, and has little to no policy authority. I do not ever remember the Chamness issue coming before this committee, as it did not have any effect on the solid waste facility in Ford County. If you were there, and were listening, I do not think you heard any positive questions or responses from the members of the committee.

Now the meeting for the 24th has been postponed until a later date. I will try to keep you posted on the new date as it approaches.
