| I'd agree in both cases. I'd also say one could easily argue their cases are well founded. People of religion often fear, hate or are intolerant of those who are not of the faith because they see these people, just as some see people of religion, as the same. The same that rob, steal and kill each other for little reason. Just as we see these gang punks, people of faith see the rest of the community in the same light. Not to be trusted and morales garbage that should be washed from the earth. Is it any wonder they prefer that their kids not run around with these heathens? We tell our own kids to stay away from those gang punks and no one thinks twice about it. It's easy to judge others when we cast them in our own light. Let me try that again! It's easy to judge others when we see them in the light we have cast for ourselves.

Didn't the news report that the kid (who was 10 at the time) gave the flag to the father following a visit to Dorothy's House (Wizard if Oz) and the townfolk interpreted it as a gay gesture due to a overzealous local minister? I was always taught that Christianity is about forgiveness, acceptance, and love....not prejudice, hate and judgment. These so called Christians, like Phelps, are not acting like Christians. I amashamed of my fellow Kansans in Meade. There are two ways to my weekly service route to Liberal and one of them is through Meade....I think I will just stick with the Sublette route to avoid the bigots altogether.

| Perhaps I need to rephrase my opinion. I think religeon is fine if you are tolerant. I think what most religeons preach is that you should be tolerant but when it comes to gays very few religeons open thier arms to them. They teach to fear them (they might rape your children) and to pray for them (which basically says that you somehow are better than they are) I really disagree with that phlosophy. We have some non denominational churches down here that go by the "everyone is welcome in God's house" phlosophy. IF I were a church goer - thats the one I would go to. It's not religeon that is the problem it's the interpretation of it. Too much "man" not enough God. Sorry didn't mean to offend ya HW - I shoulda clarified before starting the firestorm.

| Playing it for all it's worth(Meade) I'm with Texie on this: Send in a platoon of Texas bull dykes to Meade, call out the evolution-challenged Phelps and Meade Bigots and sit back and watch the fun. Maybe some Texas Rules Death Match Wrestling in the Meade Mud. Invite Current TV for coverage. Lurker, you and I can hold the hands of the dykes' girlfriends until there's a decision. Then we'd better split real quick like. I'm driving. In the 70s and 80s I lived in Key West during a couple of winters to escape the Kansas winters and met and became friends with a bunch of Gays and Lesbians and I can tell you one thing — I never met anyone who saw a rainbow flag and decided to "bat for the other team." |
