Switzerland and Belgium purchase the largest quantity of horsemeat. Cavel Intl. Inc. 108 Harvestore Dr Dekalb, IL 60115 (815) 756-8051 Fax 815-756-8195 The Cavel International horse slaughter plant in DeKalb, Ill., opened for business June 2. The plant was destroyed by fire on March 31, 2002, and a new facility was constructed at the same location. The plant is designed to slaughter and process 100 horses per day. The horse meat is marketed in Europe and Japan for human consumption.

| There are alot of countries that love dog and cat as a meal... makes you wonder .... are UNWANTED pets being slaughtered for consumption and sent overseas...?? I swear ..if they see a buck being made .... they will do it... Im not a horse lover.... they hate me and the feeling is mutual... however... when any animal is slaughtered ....I think in this country... we ...at least ...want them to not suffer and have guidelines on how to do it humanely...sometimes tho... we see on documentaries... ITS FREAKING HORRIBLE... and for a few hours at least I want to be a vegatarian... Thanks Bubba ...for pointing out another selling out to foreign companies ... within our borders.... SCUZE ME ...GOTTA GO TAKE A ANTI-DEPRESSANT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....

| Actually, as far as I know they use the same techniques to slaughter horses as they do to slaughter cattle and other animals.

| They first take a bolt to the brain and then have their thoat cut to drain the blood. If they ain't dead after that they are pretty tough, to be alive after knockin the brain and drainin the blood, damn!

| I saw a guy that was kicked by a hangin cow - seen quite a few kick around during my short stint at XL...... Bolt or no bolt - they are still kickin when the hoist chain comes around..... it's eerie but true.......
