Another Bush war lie uncovered

The Senate Intelligence Committee is chaired by Sen Pat Roberts-R-Ks.

Quote:
WASHINGTON - There’s no evidence Saddam Hussein had ties with al-Qaida, according to a Senate report issued Friday on prewar intelligence that Democrats say undercuts President Bush’s justification for invading Iraq.

Bush administration officials have insisted on a link between the Iraqi regime and terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Intelligence agencies, however, concluded there was none.....

Let me see, prior to 9/11 all major Democrat leaders claimed Saddam had WMDs. In 1999 the Clinton Administration issued a report that Iraq was supporting terrorists. In June 2004, Bill Clinton said President Bush had the responsibility to make sure Iraq's chemical and biological weapons did not get in the hands of terrorists.

Quote:
"After 9/11, let's be fair here, if you had been President, you'd think, Well, this fellow bin Laden just turned these three airplanes full of fuel into weapons of mass destruction, right? Arguably they were super-powerful chemical weapons. Think about it that way. So, you're sitting there as President, you're reeling in the aftermath of this, so, yeah, you want to go get bin Laden and do Afghanistan and all that. But you also have to say, Well, my first responsibility now is to try everything possible to make sure that this terrorist network and other terrorist networks cannot reach chemical and biological weapons or small amounts of fissile material. I've got to do that. That's why I supported the Iraq thing. There was a lot of stuff unaccounted for. So I thought the President had an absolute responsibility to go to the U.N. and say, 'Look, guys, after 9/11, you have got to demand that Saddam Hussein lets us finish the inspection process.' When you're the President, and your country has just been through what we had, you want everything to be accounted for."
(Bill Clinton, "His Side of The Story," Time, 6/28/04)

So if all the Dems believed this stuff before Bush took office how is it that Bush lied? He could only lie about it if he knew it wasn’t true and that means he knew something that the Dems didn’t and that would make him smarter then all the Dems wouldn’t it?

You're arguing the wrong lie, this isn't about WMD's it's about Saddam's ties to al-Qaida, which this report show that there were none.

If these people would send just half the effort they spend on trying to point a finger and say "liar liar" on what they would do from this point on they'd win hands down. Instead all they're doing is strengthening support for Bush.

Americas just not that dumb or blind.

If a New York based gang claimed responsibility for such an attack on an American target and America declared war on gang terror, working to remove gangs from LA would be expected. A claim could be made that LA, a known gang training heaven, had links to the gangs in NY and no one would be called a liar because no links were found. Fact is you could never prove or disprove such links unless they kept a training roster.

This is nothing more than political BS trying to make Bush look bad. What they don't understand is most Americans are smart enough to make their own call. Calling Bush a liar is calling many Americans a liar. Not a good choice.

Just so you know, "these people" that came up with this, is the Republican controlled Senate Intelligence Committee, which is chaired by your very own Sen. Pat Roberts.

I'm aware of who these people are. Political party makes no difference.

I have validated the necessity to be in Iraq for myself from what I've seen. I don't need some politician or their bias followers trying to tell me otherwise at every turn of the channel in a cheap attempt to gain political support. Be it Republican or Democrat.

From your MSNBC link….

Quote:
The chairman of the committee, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., said it has long been known that prewar assessments of Iraq “were a tragic intelligence failure.”

But he said the Democratic interpretations expressed in the report “are little more than a vehicle to advance election-year political charges.” He said Democrats “continue to use the committee to try and rewrite history, insisting that they were deliberately duped into supporting the overthrow of Saddam Hussein’s regime.”
