| Since I'm the one that posted this story I thought I might as well say something. I have mixed emotions about this, probably most everone on this board, including me, has driven after a few drinks. And I agree that some people get caught just once driving drunk and either don't do it again or get smarter or luckier and don't get caught again. But it only takes one time to kill or injure someone or damage property so it would be nice to know who they are. One big problem is the real hardcore alcoholic or drunk driver will not quit no matter what, and something needs to be done about them. Maybe it should be tried and see how it works.

| I dont agree with this idea. I dont drink while driving...or drink at all for that matter. But I believe cops can find a reason to pull me over without a funny colored plate. Drunk drivers dont need a plate for officers to tell something isnt right. I have too many tickets for speeding, will I get a funny plate too someday? |

| <raises hand> Confession I did it. I was 18, stupid and out with several friends at "fizz" or whatever that bar accross from the Globe was called at the time. I had too many drinks, tried to find someone to drive me home and nobody wanted to leave. I ended up driving myself home, went into the ditch, rolled my car, scarred up my face, broke a bunch of bones, took out a fence, and ended up in the hospital. I got a DUI and deserved it. I had never driven drunk prior to then, and never since. I don't think I have ever drank excessively since then. I hate the feeling of being under the influence. It was an isolated mistake. I was dumb, and yes, I could have killed someone. I do believe that some people do make isolated mistakes. |

| I do not agree with being able to pull over a car just because of the plate either. I do think, though, that it would give police, or the public, a heads up if involved with the vehicle and driver. Unfortunately when you start giving wiggle room it gets exploited. Zero tolerance is what it should be. If somebody walked into the mall and started shooting a gun, would you cut them a break if halfway through the clip they decided to stop? Not me. Yes, we all have our experiences and more then likely have drank to much and drove. I wrecked my car after getting behind the wheel and was drunk. I wound up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. The bartender at the club knew me and instead of using Vodka she put Everclear in my drinks, and lots of it. I only had three drinks and didn't realize just how drunk I was when I passed out suddenly while driving. Was I at fault? Yeah, I was and paid dearly for it. I was young then too.

| wheelchair I am very able bodied, thankyou... People who know me, know the significance of the avatar. It has nothing to do with the wheelchair. I am thinking about changing the avatar- you are about the 4th person that thought I was in a wheelchair. |
