N. Korea's got the bomb...

Overnight North Korea detonated their first nuclear device. Some (including us; that's U.S.) are quite concerned and are politically posturing to get the most press.

I guess I don't fear it as much as most; mostly because they (surely) understand the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction AND comprehend the futility of launching any attack from their shallow weapon(s) cache. Suicide to say the least.

I do still fear the concept of a dirty bomb being set-off here by the hands of radical muslims.

I hope we don't lose our focus on what is the real threat.

I don't have quite the faith in the mutual destruction concept. Or more accurately, the understanding of the concept by such countries. A bully understands their target may strike back with mutual force, but bet that they won't and strike.

also, many countries believe the world is due for a good enema, which I happen to agree, and feel they will be protected by their faith. China needs to step up and take serious action or Iran will be next in the nuclear crowd, and they certainly won't hesitate to use it.

I havn't even watched the news today... so dint' know about the test.... I will turn on the news after I post this

The leaders of Iran certainly think suicide ( for the brainwashed) is the ticket to heaven.....( for the brainwashed) I wonder how the mainstream Iranians feel about that..or do they even know what is being fed to the rest of the world..?? Sence freedom of the press is not one of their strong points....nor is it for N Korea I'd have to guess..

Their leaders are more than happy to sacrifice a few believers of their twisted minds....and it only takes a few.....as we know from 9/11/2001

I watched the re-run of FLIGHT 93... on the history channel last night and got to tell you.... Im still shook up over what happened 5 years ago... hopefully we never forget ....but I fear its just a matter of time.... hate to say that...... but .....anyway........ such a sad, sad situation we are in....Never thought I would live to see America in such a freaking mess.... This country has been so blessed and we have taken it for granted I suppose... We never thought it could happen here.... or I dint anyway....

I have the solution-----------Just turn all those places into "glass" with our BIG and DIRTY "bombs"!! Since we want to run the world anyway, we might as well just go ahead and show them our real strength!! Quit wasting money and American lives trying to convince everyone that our U.S. ways are the right way. Since they wanna go to their "heaven" anyway, we would be doing them all a favor by just helping them along!! Where is Harry Truman, when we need him???

Starting to look like they ar trying to say this is just some ruse with conventional explosives now... At least that's what they are hoping.

Either way it's still looking like a GREAT idea that we re-deployed our troops from Korea to Iraq.

That assumes you are dealing with rational people which the goons who run North Korea have shown to be anything but. One of the poorest and most isolated countries in the world yet they appear to have THE bomb.

While there was some news reports of them developing a rocket capable of reaching the west coast of the US, the more immediate threat with their missles are short and mid range (remember where scuds came from?) which puts South Korea and Japan within their range. Those dudes are insane enough to try to blackmail those countries.

I've always thought the way to deal with the threats to us and our allies was to remind the rogue countries that harbor the terrorists groups that compared to the USA they are rank amateurs at massive destruction and death. Remind them of Essen, Berlin, Hamburg, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And then have to gonads to make it happen after an attempt.

We’ve been in Iraq 3 years and I keep hearing that we need to get out and let them take care of themselves. We’ve been in Korea 50 years. Shouldn’t we have gotten out a long time ago and let them take care of themselves?

I’m feeling a mixed message with this OoD. Both are good points but seem to contradict.
