Bush distancing himself from...

Well whoever the hell it was that said "Stay the Course"

Oh yeah, it was him!

Think Progress » Bush: ‘We’ve Never Been Stay The Course’

During an interview today on ABC’s This Week, President Bush tried to distance himself from what has been his core strategy in Iraq for the last three years. George Stephanopoulos asked about James Baker’s plan to develop a strategy for Iraq that is “between ’stay the course’ and ‘cut and run.’”

Bush responded, ‘We’ve never been stay the course, George!’ Watch it:

Bush is wrong:

BUSH: We will stay the course. [8/30/06]

BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. [8/4/05]

BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course. [12/15/03]

BUSH: And my message today to those in Iraq is: We’ll stay the course. [4/13/04]

BUSH: And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. And that’s why when we say something in Iraq, we’re going to do it. [4/16/04]

BUSH: And so we’ve got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course. [4/5/04]

The dates are linked to original articles through the referring page.

BUSH: Well, hey, listen, we’ve never been “stay the course,” George. We have been — we will complete the mission, we will do our job, and help achieve the goal, but we’re constantly adjusting to tactics. Constantly.
There’s a difference between “staying the course” of succeeding the mission in Iraq and not “staying the course” by adjusting tactics to meet situations as they change. This is nothing more that another far left progressive blog spinning the truth in a smear attempt. You insult the intelligence of the thinking members of this board by posting this propaganda as news.

BTW, my head is NOT buried anywhere. I’m not sure about yours.

WOW.

I have to say, I am amazed at the truly seething invective this article has brought out. According to the posters here, our President is:
- Delusional.
- An idiot.
- A loser.
- A freak.
- Deserving of assasination.
- Feeble.
- A liar.
- A psychopath.
- Insane due to clinical depression.
- As bad, or worse than, Hitler.
- A pill-popper or a coke-head.
- A Pathological narcissist.

The bottom line is that this is just another verbal gaffe, something we see all the time in politicians. It certainly doesn’t warrant this type of response.

As much as I disliked Bill Clinton and disagreed with him politically, the worst I ever called him was a pervert (let’s face it, he cheated on his wife at the office - I’d call anyone who did that a pervert) and a liar (staring straight into the camera and saying “I did not have sex with that woman” is not a verbal gaffe - it was a lie, pure and simple).

I’d never compare Bill Clinton to Hitler or Stalin. I certainly wouldn’t say he needed to be assasinated. I wouldn’t call him an idiot, or make ignorant comments about him being mentally ill (”insane”, by the way, is a legal term, not a medical one).

It is this sort of bilious posting that demonstrates just how far out of the American mainstream you people are.

Get a grip, people. You claim to be the party of tolerance, but your seething rabid rage belies what is in your hearts.

It's "In the News" because he said it on a news program. The blog it's on did a good job of finding instances where W said the opposite.

It's an attempt to further promote your deep-seated ill will toward our President. It fueled your anger and made you happy when you posted it.

Interesting how you waited for someone else to give you your opinion.

Any time someone catches W in a lie with proof it makes me happy that is true. However it didn't fuel my anger at all. I only get angry when W is getting away with his lies and misdirection.

That's an interesting take you took on my takings from the link that you took.

I kindly submit that I didn't opinionize Bob's eloquent reply; but let it stand on its own.

Additionally, lookup "gaffe" A gaffe is a mistake said by an individual, usually in a social environment. They commonly result in embarrassment.. and then review your last paragraph.

Yes you indeed should be quite embarrassed. I'm glad you realize it finally.

Maybe someone should explain to W how people use the "Internets" to catch him when he says, I never said that.

I'm never surprised when words fly over your head but I'm mildly disappointed when they scream over your heels.

"That's an interesting take you took on my takings from the link that you took" acknowledges that your original post was another's opinion and not yours. Yet, you implied that my posting another's reply was somehow waiting for the 'other' to hand me my opinion. It is my opinion but Bob's reply to that blog imparted wisdom at (and from) the source. That alone imparts my reason to copy it here; without further comment.

Often times I've thought you are a conservative throwing liberal stupidities onto the board for fun and jolly's...... mostly because of a total lack of supporting said stupidities.

Wordy, either way is OK a'cuz you're much more polite than the veg-head.
