Tornado in Gray County
Just heard on the news

This is a WARNING, not a watch!!

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
southeastern Gray County in southwest Kansas.

* Until 400 PM CDT

* at 333 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 7 miles
southeast of Montezuma... moving north at 20 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
rural residences of southeastern Gray County...
Montezuma...
the haggard elev...

When a Tornado Warning is issued based on Doppler radar... it means
that strong rotation has been detected in the storm. A tornado may
already be on the ground... or is expected to develop shortly. If you
are in the path of this dangerous storm... move indoors and to the
lowest level of the building. Stay away from windows. If driving... do
not seek shelter under a Highway overpass.

listening to the Dodgeboard scanner..... There's Tornados cropping up all over the place - one on 283 south of Dodge now

They are cropping up all over southwest of us and MOVING OUR DIRECTION as the storm worsens.

Also reporting hail coming this way

Sounds like there is one VERY BIG tornado between Dodge and Minneola and a bunch of smaller ones forming all over even within a few miles of Dodge City. The cops are all out tracking them and the scanners are very busy.

Last time I remember an evening like that - I was in nursing school had my 1yo (who is now 30) and my niece in the tub, the sirens went off and that was all she wrote..... I grabed 2 babies, diapers and drove like speed demon to a basement close by....... I swore I was movin that very day......... so now here I am with chemical spills instead....... sometimes ya just can't win!!!

No.... I didn't mean we having a spill....... I meant when I hear sirens now..... it's for spills not tornadoes!!!... I'm sorry!!! All is well down here..... just rain today and some flooding from the rain last week........ no big problems!!!

oh, the big one has been on the ground for a long time now....on TV they are saying the debris feild is a mile wide, supposedly it has crossed to the north side of the Ford Ensign road, but it keeps changing directions..

It's doing a waltz... They are having a hard time tracking them cause they keep changing directions.
