| Weezie, I tend to agree with you! The military is a good learning experience for most "kids"! Problem with most of the kids nowadays, is that they have no manners, no responsibility, and no work ethic. That is one thing you will learn in the military, or you will "die trying"! I know people who have gone thru St. John's Military Academy, and they all came back a responsible adult! |

| Let me get this straight - Rangle voted against his own bill in 2004???? Seems one embarressment would be enough............ what a joke! I was holdin out hope that Democrats truely wanted to lead this country since they have been bitchin and whinnin for years that GW was capable........ this don't sound like we got such a good trade to me........ At least GW is a man of his word........ if it were his bill........ I tend to think he woulda voted "for" it - no matter what............ talk about dumb and misguided........

His voting record is probably just more right-wing spin.

Interesting. Ever heard of a General that doesn't lead? I haven't. Becides, if you come up with 10 Generals that say a tennis ball is square, I will come up with 10 that will tell you its round. Really wanna know the deal? Just ask a Sergeant Major. One that is active, not one that got out in the 90's. The Draft will demoralize the entire military. |

| I don't see the draft getting revived - at all. The military has streamlined itself and resurfaced as a sleek fighting unit that is highly trained and throwing just warm body in there would wreck what the military has achieved. It's not always massive numbers that win there is power and strength in a small unit that can move as one. Now we truely have a "selective service".......... we need to keep it that way - the military seems to know what it's doin - they need the past active duty politicians to stay the hell outta the military....... they aren't in the know and they don't know what's goin on - the generals that feed them info probably are so misquoted that it makes the whole thing a political mess anyhow. Let the military do what it does best......... I blame the polictics for the massive deaths not the lack of skills of the military. Lets be upset bout that for awhile and see if things change........... untie thier hands and let them get the job done. Hopefully we will see that soon

| The draft he's promoting isn't just for the military. It's also a public service draft where you can go and "volunteer" your time and get paid. It's a way to get another big social program going.....go f**king figure.

| Yeah - all the congresses relatives do public service in the congress while the rest of the kids get sent overseas.. ya can see that one a mile away.. It's never gonna fly anyhow....... nobody wants to disrupt a fine workin machine........ except the politicians.

| Great debate going I love the military... it was a wonderful life for me even tho I was just a military dependent... Its really kinda sorta a sheltered life and alot of rules and regs and lets face it.....most folks need rules and regs.....and when you live on base ...you are really in your own little community...as all the military on this board know ...you absolutely have to adhere to responsibilities and you will honor the priviledges you have been given....ITS A PRIVILEDGE TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY.... Just going to a movie on base ....the National Anthem was played and you stood with your hand over your heart ... WE LOVED AMERICA AND THE FLAG...and all it stood for...so we also learned patriotism....along with rules and regs... Just getting to live on base and along with that...leaving your home in pristeen condition when you are transfered.. ...... the white glove inspection of your home when you move out... Kids also had curfew and that was a given.....dont know if they do now on bases or not...this was mid 70's....I know....it aint the 70's....but it was sure nice.... We were just blessed to be able to have lived that life and learn to conform to a lifestyle of what I call priviledge...... and my kids learned it... One of them had to learn it the hard way... at age 14...(yuck)...she had a little tiff with a classmate when we were stationed at Okinawa... well needless to say my hubby was ordered by his CO... to nip this in the bud or his family would be shipped stateside......( she just this year.... got off the grounding... )I guess I just think that all kids ....fresh out of high school ...would benefit from the growth and opprotunities that a stint in the Military would provide them ....and In peacetime...... it of course would be better....No one wants to send their kids to war....I have grandsons myself... I guess I just look at it as a positive thing.....ok I'll shut up now.... ![]()
