| I'm with you, Weezie - and I don't think enough of our young people realize that the bennies are fabulous - if they can make it through the low pay and the movin' every couple of years. Hubby is retired - I tell ya. It makes a HUGE difference on the medical bills and prescription drugs. When we go to the commissary, it's so refreshing to have the kids that bag the groceries (all volunteer and work for tips) actually speak to adults so they can be understood. None of the lip we get when we visit our favorite fast-food restaurant. And those that have the military education (College and Masters) are very fortunate. They make some of the finest leaders both in the military and out. Just can't say enough about it. I encouraged my sons to join, but was reminded that they would not pass the physical (asthma). Now, I'm a little glad they didn't - I can say everything good about the military I want, but I don't think I could send my son off to war.
