Teach this cop to count

Police leave drugs in bag of girl, 10

A drugs squad officer left a packet of speed in a 10-year-old schoolgirl's bag after a drugs awareness lesson.

The police officer put three packets of the drug in her bag but after the demonstration took back only two, reports the Mirror.

Kia Butterfield did not find the amphetamine until she got back to her home in Wainfleet, near Skegness.

Her mum Amanda, 33, said: "I still can't get my head around this - an officer gave my daughter a bag of hard drugs. If your kids aren't safe from drugs on a day out with police, when are they safe?

"My three-year-old was playing at the table where those drugs were. She could have mistaken it for a bag of sherbet and swallowed it. That could have been fatal."

The officer put the drugs in Kia's bag to demonstrate how sniffer dogs worked during a seminar for primary schoolchildren at a Butlins camp.

The youngster said: "I thought he had taken out all the drugs when he handed my bag back. I got home and put it on the kitchen table near where my sister was playing.

"An hour later I went to get a pencil and found this plastic bag with powder in. I knew it was the drugs, so I told my dad."

Chief Supt Dave Wheeler of Lincolnshire Police said: "It was a training exercise for the dog and education for the children, but what happened shouldn't have happened."

According to my Funk and Wagnalls sherbet is kind of like Englands version of our Kool-Aid.

What's up with usin kids as part of the live demo anyhow???......seems rather risky to me - what if the dog decided to take an arm instead of the drugs??.......Must be why our cops don't do that. Well just another case of our "mutha" country's intellegence.......thier cops don't carry weapons either........go figger.........

Wink

Damn can't people make mistakes nowadays?? I know it was a bad mistake but I am sure the officer feels like an ass enough. In todays world nobody remembers the good things you did or the work you do to make everyone elses day easier or the extra hours you put in so others can go on vacations ect, ect, etc.....people only remember the mistakes you make. Move on, would of, could of, should of, the little one did not eat it, the little girl did the right thing and all is ok......MOVE ON! It was a mistake and I am sure the officer will never do it again. People learn from their mistakes. NOT EVERYBODY IS PERFECT

Oh by the way I am not downplaying the incident at all, I am just asking people to understand that everyone makes mistakes. I have noticed that people always frown on mistakes...like bosses for example, some bosses always look at your mistakes never the good things you do. This is just my opinion and I am sticking to it!
