Texie - when you use your Visa debit card, you have the option of using it as a credit or as a debit card. Sometimes, it makes a difference as to whether the retailer charges extra fees to your bank account. Wally's generally charges $1.20 per transaction to use your debit card. But they'll run through your debit as a credit card and charge you nothing! Interesting world we live in.

Also...if you make a major purchase say a T.V. or DVD player and you use credit instead of debit you have the protection of using the credit card so if you want to take it back...

OK - I cleared my story.............. lets talk about the basket of crap from ...... WALMART?????................... you are slippin Bubba!!!.... did you mean Target????.. Just kidding I know we all go to walmart even you from time to time......... but a cart of stuff is more than I thought you would buy...LOL
I only carry a debit card as stated earlier, and every time they ask me if it is debit or credit, I say CREDIT. Why, you might ask? Because when you say debit you have to enter the pin number for your card with everybody else in line watching as well as the cameras above most registers in stores. I don't enter my pin number in public, so I always answer credit. It still deducts it from my checking account because the system knows its a debit and not a credit card.

As far as me shopping at walmart....I boycotted them for well over a year, and had heard some press that they were changing some of their ways so I thought I could shop there every now and then. Although I do most of my shopping at Dillon's.

It works the same with a VISA or MasterCard debit card. As long as the VISA or MasterCard name is on it you can fall back on them and the debit card works wherever VISA or MasterCard credit cards are accepted.

They (Walmart) have hired a Giant PR firm to try and get us to like them again! Lately, their growth and stock have been down. This is an attempt to make America Love them again. The first act was the $4.00 prescription thingy. They want to be known as the "store for the American Workers"!

One old scam is a crook in line taking pictures of your card with a cell phone camera. Then they have your name, number and expiration date.

While I’m on the subject, the scam this year is stealing gift cards from under your tree. What the thief does is go into a store that has the gift cards on a display rack and record the number on the back. Then they return the card to the rack and check online for the number to be activated and for how much. With that information they can order online with just the number and not the card. Your card is cleaned out before you can use it. Merchants treat the cards like cash and you lost it. You should look for cards that are sealed in plastic hiding the numbers or kept behind the counter. Some cards have a scratch off to expose a PIN at add protection.

Well, I guess Walmart has already fired the PR firm. They opened it up for bids again. It is around a 500 million dollar a year account.
