Legal Citizen?

How'd they plan THIS one?

Citizenship Up In Air For Baby Born In Flight - Family

Citizenship Up In Air For Baby Born In Flight

POSTED: 10:30 am EST December 8, 2006

CHICAGO -- Is a baby born on a flight to the U.S. a U.S. citizen?

Officials say that depends.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said a child born in airspace over American territory is eligible for citizenship.

A 7-pound, 8-ounce girl was born Wednesday onboard a Mexicana Airlines flight from Guadalajara, Mexico, to Chicago. The birth took place about an hour before the plane landed at O'Hare International Airport.

The Citizenship and Immigration spokeswoman said that if the parents want to pursue citizenship for their daughter, they'll have to file an application.

Then officials would investigate whether the child was born in Mexican airspace or over international waters.

An obstetrician on board helped with the delivery. The 42-year-old mother was traveling with her husband and two other children to visit relatives in Milwaukee.

A hospital spokeswoman said mother and daughter are doing fine.

Is this the new way to anchor baby? I thought you weren't allowed to fly if you were within 2 weeks of delivery. - Course all sorts of things come prematurely........... oh well - I think the present course is the right course - let them apply then find out where the baby was born.

Can you imagine the paper trail and the man-hours that could be spent on this one?

All ya need is a time of birth - the rest is in the puter - not as hard as it seems - bet Wordie could whip out that info as fast as doG,Tee,Hiway or any of the other bros........ My guess is they will get an attorney (probono) and file a suit cause the citizenship just wasn't given to em...... maybe not - hell maybe this could be a mexico native that is actually proud to be a mexico native and they want thier child to be a mexican national with pride rather than a mexican national lookin for a country other than thier own to improve..... or whatever.... gee that would be nice - mexican nationals that just wanna live in thier own county and fix the problems of thier own government etc....... naw that ain't gonna happen - I'm bankin on the lawyer and a court battle. ACLU is probably already all over this......... just a little voter there........... course the baby will need mom and dad to collect the bennies so - welcome to America. the medicaid and WIC are just an application away.

Putting time - space continuim math to this problem, I would say he/she, was born over/in Ford County, more than likely in Dodge City. Let's welcome another new neighbor.

I'd like to give him a can of spray paint but I can't begin to know what color.

Could you find a pale shade of blue? If not, yellow works, but green would be better.
