exactly!

Well Bubba, I do have an advanced technical career, and I do know a little about what I talk about, not just what I hear from someone who heard it from sombody who is pissed that they could not get the land that is going to be used, or is not going to make any money off of the deal.

Yelpers, you can see by the map that the average saturated thickness of the High Plains Aquifer in 1999 wasn't very useful in the Wright area. I'm sure it hasn't improved.

Hint to alkeehaul plant builders: look for DEEP blue water.

First it was a resident who didn't want to sale their soul for a dollar. Second it was going to affect them because the air they have to breath already is full of dust so their is people that don't want to compromise the future of their children for 32 jobs and more taxes to be spent on businesses that can't support themselves anyway. (Boothill, racetrack and now a new one All 4-Fun) How much are you getting out of the deal?

First of all, it's got nothing to do with hearing it from somebody who heard it from somebody, it's about going close to the source to get FACTS. As far as your advanced technical career, the only thing that comes to mind is book smart and common sense stupid.

Thanks for the map lurker. I gotta hand it to you, you are good at sniffing out the facts!

On a different subject, note the deep blues over by Holcomb where the proposed power plants are to be built....

Yup. Some's jest gotta knows.... err: nose fur water and the Holcomb bunch' nose knows.

If those Wright boys think they're right and wanna put their plant over marginal water, then it's their business. It's just sad to see some of 'our' money being wasted trying to correct a known and forseeable problem.

Did you see that big hole on the map where there is no water south of Ensign?

Lots of folks think the aquifer's an underground "ocean of water" cuz others have used the term... It started building during the uplift of the Rocky Mountains.... and over the eons water began pushing debris along with its downward flow. The debris included rocks and sand that stayed-put where it may... Many of those places were river-canyons that eventually filled with debris.... and water.

We've pumped the upper level down and what remains is those underground river-canyons.

by itself. Ever hear of the term-"the straw that broke the camel's back?"

Just because they want to assume existing water rights does not mean the existing rights are being used.

As an aside, this area is home to these people and they stick it out while folks like me get out first chance they get. They only want the best for the area and water remains a valid concerns given the climate changes (drought) the past few years and the myriad other challenges of living in sw kansas. While they, like most people, can get a little emotional-they are not stupid nor ignorant. Give them the facts as you see or know them and let them digest it. Calling these good people close minded is not going to advance people to see things your way.
