Training, Adult input, and parental responsibility........... all those things are needed. We used to play cowboys and indians, cops and robbers, We always wanted to be the cowboy or the cop........... too bad kids now wanna be the robbers and the gang banger. We all wanna be indians cause of the casino $$.........Used to be carrin guns was a thing of responsibility.... and respect........... no longer. Now it seems to be a power thing for kids (and adults) still wet behind the ears........ Sad events but what the hell do ya expect?

I always believed that anyone that used a fake or toy gun in a crime should be treated the same as if it was the real thing. A crime is a crime and the victim can not be expected to know the difference when it’s pointed at them. The criminal should not expect a reduced sentence because it’s a toy. Instead of screwing things up for the honest folks that want and use these things slap the offenders with the same harsh penalties that would apply if it was the real thing.

The dead or wounded fake gun waver becomes the victim during the civil suits against any deep pocket available. I'd like to see the family of a/the Cop file suit against the parents (if appropriate) of the fake gun waver for all the damage their under-raised kid caused.

At least that's where I see the root of the problem.

I was involved in an incident with some teenagers several years ago. They had a toy gun, and was going to "scare" a clerk in a "convenience store" around halloween. Came into the store with masks and a toy gun. They don't know how close they came to getting "popped". It wasn't a funny trick!

On the other hand, when we were young, we played alot of "Army", Cowboys and Indians, etc., in our backyard. Most of us couldn't afford a "toy gun" back then, so most of the times we had a stick, or a board, or something makeshift.
