| Dakota Fanning issue I have been watching/hearing the debates over this movie "Houndog" starring Dakota Fanning. Here are my opinions: I do not care or think that her making this movie, which apparently depicts her being raped and has her dancing in her underwear, is going to emotionally scar her for the rest of her life. She is an actress people....12 years old or not, this is what she does and she does it well. She was not REALLY raped and I doubt if she truly felt the horror that comes with that. That argument to me is a smokescreen and is crap. I do agree, and I have not seen the movie so I cannot say exactly what this rape scene looks like, that some times Hollywood in it's attempt to be realistic, goes a bit overboard. (understatement there). The rape scene in the Jodi Foster movie "The Accused" was very graphic. Jodi was also a grown woman and to get the full effect of what her charecter in the movie was trying to say happened, you kind of had to have it that graphic. That being said, some of the most chilling and horrendous rape scenes I have ever seen were on regular tv, usually on "Law and Order SVU" You truly got the feeling of total helplesness and disgust in one scene where a guy holds a woman up against a door in a subway train. There was no nudity, no cussing, no ripping clothes but you knew what he did and what was happening and it truly gave me the creeps everytime I see it. They also had a scene in one show where a young girl, 13 I think, is being held hostage and gets raped repeatedly. They never show it, but with good camera work and acting you know it is happening and it makes you just want to kill somebody. There are many, many more examples I am sure, but what I was trying to get at is Hollywood does not have to be as graphic to get the point accross. Remember the scene in "Payback" where they bust Mel Gibson's toes with a sledge hammer? They never showed it, but there was no doubt what was happening. My question is: "When is enough to much?" Should there be laws involved to not allow these scenes and movies to be made?

| I’m sure if someone tried to pass a law there would be screams of censorship. One way lawmakers might get around it is to amend the child labor laws somehow. Hollyweird is overboard on just about everything anymore and it won’t stop as long as folks keep buying tickets.

| I think you are correct Highway. I am more in the line of if you do not like it, do not see it. Once the government starts making laws restricting how things are filmed.......I dunno. I see that as a slippery slope.

| I think there are agencies that get paid by our govt to protect children - they don't need to be in the movies business........... they need to make sure the buisiness of movies is not exploiting our children. Sounds like our own vivid imagination is doing more exploiting than anything else........... Course if you really find even the thought of such graphics distasteful......... then don't go see it I guess............. I don't like violence so I know I won't be watchin just based on the discription here. Hell I still cover my eyes with westerns and the arrows!

Other than going with Michael Jackson to the Grammy's once she is pretty normal for a Hollywood person.
