| I sure would make sure it ain't them........... let them rent a vending spot and sell food. No one should have special favors for this or have an arena built for them............... that sure reads like there is alot of undertable handsy's goin on............ Now the Wild West show sounds right for Dodge if that's the overall plan.......... but is that gonna sell? Only your city elected folks know I guess - but I would sure as hell try to find out before anyone breaks ground or signs a contract! My persoanl opinion is - 8 million BROADWAY show they aint............... not will ever be............... I think this is more like the shows ya might see at Vegas or Cruise lines.......... or somewhere but not at Marshall Ranch.

| It doesn't matter what anybody thinks. The "Powers that Be" will spend our money to build their little pet projects, and we will be stuck with more "white elephants" that sit, gather dust, and cost us real taxpayers money that we don't have!! |

| Or nothing will get done and we will all sit around and bitch about our town drying up like a turd in the desert.

| Developing, construction, equipping and programming costs: Approximately $41 million, which does not include the cost of a hotel. Operating costs: About $4.25 million over five years. In addition, the group has proposed mounting an $8 million Broadway-style Wild West show in the arena and financing the show with a combination of public dollars and private funding. The cost of mounting the show is included in the estimated $41 million for developing, equipping and programming. I thought there was a 20 million cap on this thing, and was't it in the paper this "thing" was going north of wright park, like where the moving company is?just sounds like the good ole boys are still at it at the CofC, a profit, when was the last time the city did anything that made a profit, wasn't we told not too long ago, when there was alot of fighting going on at C/C meetings that the city don't built things to make a profit, LOL, , hell let's start building it, I will be dead of natural cause before it is finished. LOL all my kids live out of town, but one and many her husband can will get a tranfer out of here.. before the taxes really hit.. one thing about building this "thing" it sells a lot of Lotto tickets, everybody try to hit the big one to get the H... out of Dodge LOL Sweet dreams are made of this, I just love that song..

| hey how about down south not too far, say the old dillons store, city buys the car lot south of there, the parts store, hell the whole block. you would have plenty of ways to get out of there, 2nd,sunnyside, sycamore, like So 2nd to the south, and to the North, Sycamore to the east and sunnyside to the west, wow, close to the park, close to the famous Boothill, and the Rodeo grounds, ok ok I got it, across the street east of wright park, buy the car lots, the bakery, and the night club or what ever it is.. that would almost be a square block.. just a thought.. LOL..

| Our SEC covers about 2 - 4 square city blocks - that's just the building.......... The parking is extra - your SEC won't be just for Ford County..... ya gotta think bigger if ya wanna draw the crowd........... Texs City is maybe a little larger than Dodge.......... Galveston's is huge!! I think it's about 4 stories............ the parking is below the building there - if you aren't gonna have the land then ya'll gonna need to build up so you can handel the parking. Gotta have both. I would bet the companies biddin are perhaps companies that build these things all the time? I would hope they give your bank rollers the info they need. We actuall have several SEC's in our county.. the really big ones are in Texas City and Galveston - but theyare all nice.

| Does anybody remember the newspaper article the other day about the city buying options to purchase land on the NW corner of 56 & 14th? I would bet they already have a plan to build the most expensive one on that property.

| From what I've heard around town...that 8 million dollar broadway style show is the Riders in the Sky. (website: Riders In The Sky) They are very interested in capitalizing on our heritage and name brand. They even do a radio show and such. From what I've seen and heard of their music and show, it looks like it would integrate nicely with our name, Dodge City. I'll keep my ears open and see if I can hear anything else through the strong south wind today. |
