For the Politcal Scientist check any of the threads around Election day.

Purpose of that post as well as many others, is to point out truths as i see them. I like to call people on BS and also call them out when they don't point out both sides. Any good english instructor will tell you you won't be credible if you don't point out the counter points.
That is what this board is for...point and counter point. Those are just my opinions and will not hold up in a court of law as I am no expert. There are plenty of counterpoints on this board...I guess I will choose to not be credible because I am not going to say I'm for tax cuts then offer a reason why there shouldn't be tax cuts.....

I would say that for somebody to be considered in the upper class range, would be about the point where you no longer have to pay Social Security (FICA) taxes on your earnings. For 2007, I believe that magic number is $97,500 income for the year.

You pay Social Security taxes on income up to $97500 in 2007 any income over that does not have social secuity tax witheld. Income taxes still apply. These amounts are current in previous years it was less, last year (2006) the amount was $94200, in 2000 it was $76200. This is for an employee, not combined income, so it wouldn't matter if you are married or not.

So if a couple makes say 98,000 and lives in San Francisco...you would consider them wealthy?

On one hand we have data from the Congressional Budget Office based on all IRS returns and on the other you have an informal poll with a small sample taken by one man. If I tried to use something like that to make a point that you didn’t agree with you’d rip me a new one.
