| Could be it's just a smart business move - if you had a choice where would you buy tags? If it's any consolation - insurance seems to be cheaper in KS. I think he has the "home office" or "office of operations" in Tx.......... therefore he's a Tx company doin business in KS

| But if he was a responsible citizen/business owner, he would do like the other company I talked about in an earlier post. Tag the Texas vehicles in Texas, tag the Kansas vehicles in Kansas. After all, the Kansas vehicles and people are making their living in Kansas.

| He's probably doing wht his accountant is telling him to do. Could be he feels he is contributing enough to KS by supplying that state an employerer...... you know that's probably how Cargill feels about thier immigrtion issue...... at least they are keepin Dodge afloat........... I don't mean that hateful like - just business like. I hear what you are sayin but if the loophole is there and your tax man (that you pay) says this is what ya do - then that's what ya do. We have hashed resposible employer over quite a few times but if ya compare one contractors actions to Cargills and Nationals actions........ I would say the Tx guy probably is the lessor of the evils........ niether is morally right but I'd hang with the feller from Tx befoe I tried to hang my bonnet on either of the packers.

| I know other people from Dodge City, who drive vehicles with Texas tags. They do this for the reason that Texie related, cheaper and no personal property taxes. They have either a home or a business in Texas, so they can get by with it. But, as Texie also said, usually the insurance is higher there. On another note, we have company vehicles in other states, and they require us to tag them in the state in which they are "garaged"! |

| maybe Ks missed that - who knows?? but I remeber there bein a bounty on misstagged cars and such - if ya feel that strongly............... call the company owner OR the City or the PD.............. sure any of em would be happy to rest your mind for ya!............. it's a small thing to me but if it means that much - do the deed

| No offence Texie, But why do people say things like "If it bothers you that much, contact the owner. Like either contacting them or posting on here would make any difference, and I am positive he knew that before posting ![]() |

| Cause Bubba is our "contact" guy........... he fights for right on many other topics besides this one. It wasn't meant as arrogant........ it was meant as - if anyone would do something about it - Bubba would............sorry if that bothered ya! I wouldn't tell just everyone to contact the owner! Besides truth is if they are runnin tags illegally......... last I heard there was a nice reward to go with bringin it to the attention of those that collect a lot of money from you every year for your tags........ ![]()

| The deal is, the vehicles are likely tagged to the state of ownership, which would be Texas. Insurance-wise, the rates are figured on the garaging location, which would be Kansas. Insurors don't really care whether or where a vehicle is tagged. They only care about the garaging location - where it's parked at night. So if they REALLY wanted to pay low insurance rates, they'd find a way to park them in, say....Sublette or Ensign. I worked for a Minnesota-based insuror for a couple of years in Kansas City, MO. We had a company car. At the time, we would be eligible to tag it in either KS (which is where it was garaged, where our VP lived), MO (which was where our office was) or Minnesota, where it was owned. For political reasons, they decided to tag it in Kansas, where it was garaged, and it was considered to be semi-close to the Missouri office.
