I too would like to know the process of selecting banks authorized to have this program. I would also like to know if the other banking groups will cry foul and want their piece of the pie through their lobbying groups.

Thanks, but I have shared with you the extent of my knowledge of the subject. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the medicare and IRS regulations.

I have no knowledge of the process but I would assume they made application in some manner and must have some way to satisfly the IRS regs on potential back-up withholding.

I saw this morning that in a matter of a few days $18 million in closed accounts were withdrawn from Bank of Illegals. A boycott has also begun.

I heard that by giving out these cards to illegals the bank was actually breaking federal law but of course it's not being enforced. Anyone know what law this would be?

Mohammed Yousef Mullawala is an illegal alien. While in America for quite some time illegally, Mullawala amassed a collection of addresses and drivers’ licenses, just as the 9/11 terrorists did, until he was stopped in a failed attempt to train to obtain a commercial drivers’ license (CDL) in Rhode Island.

As an illegal alien, he enrolled at the Nationwide Tractor Trailer School with an intense interest in obtaining software with hazardous materials information and no interest learning how to back the 70 foot vehicle he wanted to drive. He is now being held in federal custody for overstaying his visa, but only after he was detained because some very alert Americans noticed that his behavior was reminiscent of the 9/11 terrorists who trained in our flight schools but who did want care to learn how to land airplanes. This would-be trucker/terrorist now awaits deportation on visa violations.

Sam P. Thompson, a truck driver from Gaithersburg, Maryland currently sits in a Pennsylvania jail on charges of vehicular homicide. Earlier this month, Thompson’s truck slammed into a Volkswagen Jetta on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, killing Honduran diplomat, Nuria Ortiz Navarro, and injuring three others. According to reports, Thompson, a Ghana native, is in this country illegally.

We wouldn’t give these guys five hundred dollar credit lines either, but don’t worry: Bank of America will.

In an effort to “improve the quality of life” for illegal aliens, even as they commit crimes against American citizens at an alarming rate that is three to six times the rate (depending on which estimate one reads) at which Americans commit crimes, Bank of America is now offering Visa cards to illegal aliens like Mullawala and Thompson.

For a $99 fee, illegal aliens with Bank of America checking accounts in good standing can obtain a $500 Visa card. They join the ranks of Citibank and its subsidiary, Banamex and Wells Fargo, who have been offering credit cards and mortgages to illegal aliens for several years. Social security numbers, used by the Internal Revenue Service to identify American taxpayers, are no longer necessary to have if you are an illegal alien.

In the case of the Second Federal Savings in Chicago, Illinois, they have even devised a separate set of rules for obtaining credit for illegal aliens. If your status is “illegal” and thus because of this criminal status you cannot obtain a social security number, all you need to obtain credit is to show pay stubs and utility bills. Of course, with no social security number, past employment and credit histories cannot be verified. Neither, obviously, can your true identity.

In an effort to make it easier for the criminal act of being in this country illegally “legitimate”, the Internal Revenue Service is issuing “tax payer identification numbers” (TINs). TINs, according to the Internal Revenue Service’s website, are issued regardless of immigration status. This allows illegal aliens to comply with Federal tax laws. Wells Fargo and Second National Savings accepts TINs, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune, as a way to “verify identity” of the credit applicant.

In a raid in Union City, Tennessee, on February 5, 2007. Police arrested five Mexican nationals, in this country illegally, for the manufacture of thousands of false identification papers. Seized in this raid, according to the Jackson Sun, was equipment used to make fake U.S. and Mexican identifications, insurance cards, birth certificates, work visas and passports. Also seized were hundreds of blank card stocks printed with templates that could be used to make fake cards for resident alien status, permanent resident alien status and temporary employment status to live and work in the United States. Moreover, blank card stock that could be used to make fake both Social Security cards and Texas birth certificates were also confiscated in the raid. They could have used some good old American credit to expand their growing business. And further, these items represent everything another Mohammed Yousef Mullawala or the next Mohammed Atta needs to obtain credit from Bank of America, Citibank and Wells Fargo.

In 2005, Bank of America began allowing people to wire money to Mexico without fees in order to compete with Western Union. Their “excuse” was to encourage clients (i.e. Illegal aliens) to open accounts. In this post 9/11 world and with the financial networks of terrorists in disarray due to crackdowns on wire transfers between known terrorist networks, thanks to Bank of America, all a Zacharias Moussoui has to do is to bring his fake ID into Bank of America, open a checking account and wire money to Al Qaeda or Hamas operatives in Mexico.

The open door to terrorist financing, even on a small scale, is alarming. We cannot, however, discount the effect these practices will have on the American economy. Just how do we enforce a defaulted credit agreement with an illegal alien? Should they decide to return to their country of origin, how would we trace them? Remember, we are dealing with people who lied to come here. They lied to get jobs. Their existence in this country is based upon lies. The potential cost of defaulted loans has yet to be determined, but I can guarantee it will be the hard working American citizen who will absorb yet another cost of illegal immigration.

The irresponsible acts by these institutions, including the IRS, threaten homeland security and our economy. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has called for an investigation into the program, according to Fox News, with a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. Additionally, Rep Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) stated in the same report, “This is something that is of deep concern to me, that Bank of America would choose to market to those that have chosen to break U.S. Law to enter this country and then they would give credit to them.”

It remains to be seen whether AG Gonzales and DHS Secretary Chertoff will place the importance of maintaining a secure homeland over the politically correct practice of coddling criminals.

The radical Islamic enemy has perfected their use of the American court system and the media to further their jihad to destroy the United States. They can walk across the open Mexican border into a country that jails its border patrol agents and rewards its criminals. Terrorist cells within our borders are a reality and Bank of America has joined Second Federal Savings and Wells Fargo in making untraceable funds readily available to carry out their mission, whether it be buying a gun to murder innocent shoppers in a mall or paying tuition for truck driving school.

So, while the Bush administration, liberal politicians, the IRS and the courts continue to enable the unleashed invasion of this country by illegal aliens and while commerce profits from the same, we are expected to sleep better knowing that another Mullawala may very well be paying for his commercial drivers’ education with a Bank of America Visa, the next Richard Reid is buying his tennis shoes with his Citibank credit card, and the next Mohammed Atta is assisted by Wells Fargo in the purchase his airplane ticket.

Aside from alert American citizens, it appears that neither our government nor U.S. industry has learned anything from 9/11 itself…nor from the 9/11 Commission Report on top of it.

You heard wrong, Treasury is letting some financial institutions use other forms of ID like the Mexican National ID card and the IRS is issuing Taxpayer ID numbers without a valid SS#. As much as people want a piece of this "pie" no up and up financial instution is going to purposedly break any federal laws involving the IRS or Money transfer rules because the risk of getting shut down is too great. But if the feds want to allow it, then so be it.

Oh and there's not been a run on BOA account closings either.
