| Dodge City woman wins new car from Lottery Published Friday, February 23, 2007
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius made a Dodge City woman very happy today when she handed her the keys to a new 2007 Saturn Aura during a presentation on the east steps of the State Capitol.
“This is just great!” said Margaret Gerber. “It’s the happiest I’ve been in years.”
Gerber, 59, won the Saturn Aura when the Kansas Lottery drew her name from more than 56,000 entries for the Kansas Made second-chance drawing, which was held Feb. 2. The entries were non-winning $2 Kansas Made instant tickets.
In addition to the vehicle, the Lottery also pays the mandatory federal and state withholding taxes on the prize, plus other initial taxes and fees on the vehicle.
“Your Saturn Aura is one of the first to come off the line at GM’s manufacturing facility in Kansas City, Kan.,” Sebelius told the winner. “We’re proud you’ll be joining the ranks of those of us driving Kansas-made vehicles.” Sebelius purchased a Chevy Malibu made at the same plant.
Kansas Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten also took part in the presentation, along with several Saturn executives and representatives from Dillons.
A Dillons store in Dodge City sold Margaret Gerber the $2 Kansas Made ticket that won the drawing.
