The statement is incorrect as it applies to past sales of US cars in China. If it had referenced the future tense it is not incorrect considering that China has adopted the Euro II standards and is rapidly moving to Euro III. The "average" US produced autombile will not meet these standards.

I wonder if their factories and power plants are as clean as their cars?

Keep telling yourself that. Anything other than admitting Gore LIED!

GM sold around 877,000 cars in China in 2006, they are planning on selling 1.2 million cars in China in 2007. So, your facts are wrong! Selling 1.2 million cars in China this year tells me that they are still allowed to sell cars in China.

General Motors, which through its partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry, is the No. 1 automaker in China, plans to make 1.2 million cars there this year, up from 877,000 in 2006. It has seen just over 50 percent annual growth in its sales since 2000, and become the most important profit center for the struggling global automaker.

The part about GM is about 2/3 down the page.

Please re-read what I posted. I stated the "average" US car would not meet the new standards.

I am not in the mood to get into a pissing contest tonight. Until yesterday afternoon I did not know a thing about China and Euro mileage and emission standards. I spent six wonderful hours yesterday listening to Michigan officials, representatives from Ford and GM, and other parties as to why we should allocate many millions of dollars to Flint, Detroit, and Saginaw. That's when the GM dudes stated they were working diligently to bring a hybrid to that market by 2008 and an all electric car within the next 10 years. I've got a three inch stack of Michigan and auto maker economic data on my desk. Send me a snail and it's all yours.

If that's how you spin it. I would say they buy American vehicles made by Chinese workers.

I don't spin it. You can't buy those cars here.

Regardless I have not seen the inconvient truth nor will i. Gore being a democrat does not change that he is an insufferable prick in person unless you have something to offer him. But he knows his message is going to get looked over for every chance for someone to disagree with it. He might be arrogant but he's not stupid enough to outright lie.

And because the Michigan group took 5 hours of three allotted for everyone plus a wrap up discussion hour, I have to make another freeking trip to detroit next week I would just as soon not make. My only stake in it is the Illinois and Indiana operations have to help secure the debt. So if you want GM and Ford's responses to securities analyst on the threats these issues present I will be happy to mail it to you.
