| Weeelllll Dawggie!!!! Tuesday, 03/13/07 Big oil strike in Overton County By BRAD SCHRADE Staff Writer One of the biggest oil wells in recent Tennessee history was struck on a farm in Overton County on Friday. The well was struck by Young Oil Corp., owned by Anthony Young. It was producing about 100 barrels of oil an hour, but had to be cut back to about 55 because of tank capacity. Overton and several other counties on the Upper Cumberland Plateau area have oil underground. Oil men strike deals with farmers and other land owners to drill, and they share the profits if oil is found. "It's one of the three biggest wells in the last 30 years," said Bill Goodwin, board director and past president of the Tennessee Oil and Gas Association.
