I have to agree with Wordy, once it goes in front of SCOTUS, that is Supreme Court of the United States in case you're confused, it becomes the law of the land not just the state that it originated in.

Case in point, Roe v. Wade was a Texas case that finally made it to the SCOTUS at which point it opened up the right for women to choose all across the country, not just Texas.

Did you guys see on the news where the kid in Alaska was at a public function and had a big banner that said "Bong Hits 4 Jesus". He was suspended from school.

Employers can and often do set workplace rules and conditions of employment that are more restrictive that what is permissible outside the workplace. Business owners banning employees from carrying guns is one example. If you don’t think so print a copy of the court decision and take it with you while wearing a “#### something” T-shirt to work and hand it to your boss.

Taking the California case at face value please note one big difference;

Quote:
3. It is illuminating to note what transpired when Cohen entered a courtroom in the building. He removed his jacket and stood with it folded over his arm. Meanwhile, a policeman sent the presiding judge a note suggesting that Cohen be held in contempt of court. The judge declined to do so, and Cohen was arrested by the officer only after he emerged from the courtroom. App. 119.
I don’t think this woman folded that bumper and put it in the trunk.

A private employer can set rules that are more restrictive.

This case set a precident that can be argued for or against.

I wonder how she'd react if a male coworker said: "Nice Tits!"

Army, since when did the military take an oath to uphold and protect the US Constitution, including the First Amendment, except that which you find personally offensive?

I don't think Army said that. IMO she has the *right* to post the bumper sticker, but having the right and doing the 'right' thing are different animals.

The oath that I swore to in 1978 started around 1960 and went as follows....

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

It's another fine example of using the Constitution to degrade society. I'm not saying the Constitution is a bad thing but that it no longer serves the nation as intended. Today it's used more to justify bad behavior than anything else.

It used to be that wrong was wrong whether you had the Right or not, now wrong is only a matter of interpretation, self expression and subject to debate.

We, well not all of us, are quick to justify bad social behavior with the Constitution. Not any different than the kid wearing the offensive teeshirt to school. It happens because some people find it more important to protect the Right to be a jerk than to teach good social behavior. In the end we have a society of jerks that cares nothing about whats right and only whats their Right. And then we wonder why society has gone to shit.

Did anyone see the "Bong hits for Jesus" protest the other day? These were kids who knew it was wrong but wanted to show just how lax society has become in promoting good social behavior. The self-proclaimed protectors of the Constitution strike another blow to American morality.
