Armed Robbery at Alltel at the mall?

I rolled up to my office today and noticed a bunch of police cars at the Alltel store. I found out from here say that it had been robbed by a guy at gun point. I also heard that someone at Walmart was robbed today also but not sure if that is true. Anyone know anything about this?

I was at Walmart earlier and heard one of the cashiers ask a CSM if there was any security there today, because his friend got robbed. So evidently something happened.

On the scanner I heard a 6'4" black male jumped into a silver or gold Lincoln Continental, as a passenger, and they sped off south down Central.

My guess is probably one of our Katrina refuge's?

I'm curious. Does Alltel fly one of those criminal safe zone signs?

6'4" and black? Sounds like a basketball player needing more scholarship money!

That phone company will certainly attempt to rob you. When I switched to United's cellular, it took several months to finally convince Alhell that my long-term contract with them had expired AND recognize the fact that I was no longer doing business with them. When/if Alhell generates a bill, they think you owe them....

That robbery couldn't have happen to a bigger bunch of pricks.

Actually, that isn't an Alltel company store. It's a Alltel authorized dealer, so the store isn't owned by Alltel. The Alltel store owned by Alltel is in the Comanche Plaza.

Yeah, and they are a bunch of pricks too! Seems like they have loosend up a little though, since they have some competition now!!

I don't deal with them so I don't know. I bought my phone online and they shipped it to me, and I pay all my bills with them online. The one time I needed some service I went to the Garden City store. They treated me like a king! It goes back to the thread about service at businesses in Dodge. You go to Alltel store in Dodge and they act like they are doing you a favor by being there, you go to the the Alltel store in Garden City and they act like you are the reason that they are there. Maybe the younger generation wasn't raised right in Dodge City. Instead of providing service, the employees feel that they are the ones that are entitled.

Store clerk at ATV dealership in Lakin robbed at gunpoint

Lakin resident Ramon Almuina got the shock of a lifetime Saturday when a man entered his work place, pointed a gun in his face and robbed him while he was working at Snow Ride Shop.

Almuina, 25, said he was the only employee at the ATV and snow mobile dealership, located 12 miles west of Lakin, when the robbery happened.

Almuina said a black male came into the business asking questions about ATV prices, so he went behind the counter to get the information.

He said when he looked up again, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money.

"He told me to give him all the money or I was a dead man," Almuina said this morning.

Almuina said he gave the man $200, but the man dropped some of it as he was leaving the store.

He said he ran to the door and attempted to get a license plate number, when the robber noticed him and threatened him again.

"He told me to get back inside or he would shoot me," Almuina said. "I mean, he got $200, but I got my life."

Kearny County Undersheriff Dave Horner said deputies received a 911 call at 11:15 a.m. from Almuina.

Horner said Almuina observed the robber leaving in a black 2000 Chevy pickup with an extended or quad cab. The man was headed west.

Norman Swank, owner of the Snow Ride Shop, said Almuina contacted him and told him what happened.

"He told me about the money, and I told him I didn't care. I just wanted to know if he was all right," Swank said.

Swank said Almuina was the only employee at the shop because he and several others were attending the KBUF RV Show in Garden City.

Swank said he opened the business in 1983 and this is the first time he has been robbed.

"I have always told my employees if they get robbed to just give them what they want," he said. "I don't want anybody shot. You can always deal with the money later."

Horner said the robber is described as a 6-foot, 230-pound black man last seen driving a 2000 black Chevy pickup with an extended or quad cab.

If not there are a lot of 6+ foot black male robbers in SW Kansas.
