I agree that we cannot stop a civil war, and yes, it may need to happen. The U.S. may not be happy with the outcome of a civil war, but that should not be their decision.

And this bill states that we will leave in Sept. of 2008. A full 5 and 1/2 years after the war in Iraq started. If they can't get set-up in that amount of time, they never will. When will the killing and maiming of American soldiers and Marines end? This war is not only costing money and lives it is putting a tremendous strain on the V.A. Hospital system trying to care for all the wounded.

Aha! It comes out! This is a war for OIL!!!
I'm sure to some degree you're right, it's important to protect our eastern interests(wink wink), but actually it's more because we've made some dangerous enemy's over there, and leaving too soon will bring them back to our shores with renewed ambitions.

You may decide that starting a fight might have not been such a good idea, but you NEVER leave it unfinished.

As someone put it. You don't want to stir up a hornets nest then turn your back and walk away. Thats just stupid!

It's a war people...a WAR.

To put things in perspective...

Iwo Jim: 6800 Dead
Omaha Beach: 2400 Dead
Korean War: 33,471 Dead...
Vietnamn: 58,199 Dead...
WW 2: Over 400,00 Dead...

In 2001, 5,341 teens were killed in passenger vehicles involved in motor vehicle crashes.
In 2001, 3,608 drivers 15 to 20 years old were killed in motor vehicle crashes, and an additional 337,000 were injured

16,692 Number of Murders in YOUR United States of America in 2005.

Operation Iraqi Freedom: 3244 in 4 years. AVG: 811 Deaths per year.

Every life is important but people need to be patient. War = Sacrifice and while it's hard we should be in it for the long haul and do whatever it takes to win. Hooooahhhh. FWIW I have friends and relatives in Iraq. My brother in law will be there sooner or later.

So what you're saying is... The more the merrier?

If 10 people are murdered in the mall tonight it's OK because even more died on the highway this weekend?

Yeah Wordy that is exactly what I am saying....sheesh. Only you say something like that....

The point is sacrifice....our country isn't prepared to sacrifice for security. In WW II people did without a lot of things...we are in a war now...whether you want to admit it or NOT...and personally with the exception of those who have loved one's deployed or have lost someone...what sacrifice have you, me or anyone else made? Our society wants everything NOW with no sacrifice. It doesn't work that way. The Dems are pushing to pull out. Think about this. If we are successful in Iraq who does it benefit? Dems or Repubs? If we are NOT successful who does it benefit?

Army, you're perzactly right! We should be asked to do with less during this effort. Even a 10% reduction of US oil consumption could diminish the middle East's world wide clout.
