Senate Approves Insanity

I want to know how you all feel about this. The house last week approved a bill that sets a mandatory pull-out date for all American "combat" troops in Iraq. Today, the Senate approved the same bill and it is now headed to the president to be vetoed. My personal opinion is that this bill needs to be vetoed by having it handed to the president, who then places it in the shredder and burns the discarded paper. I have to wonder who is more out of touch, the Congress, or me. I realize that this has become an un-popular war, but if this bill goes through, I believe we are looking at nothing short of a full scale global economic crisis. The Shi'a and the Sunni and the Kurds will all be at each others throats, and since Iran backs one side, and the rest of the Arab world backs the other, (no one backs the kurds) I can see this becoming something of an Islamic civil war. It will not be contained in Iraq, but it will spread throughout the region. The prize they would be fighting over? Control of Iraq and her oil. OPEC could become irrelevent. The oil market would become a target for all sides, since it is the primary source of funding for the region. Forget about what message this bill sends to our enemies (Vietnam?!?) and instead look at what is going to happen to the region and the world.
SO, what do you think?

I think it simply spells disaster. We need to finish what we started and THEN, only then move on. And announcing the exact date and time we plan to pull out won't work either.

I say pull out our boys and return them home. Then, turn the whole damn place into glass!! The crazy bastards have been fighting since the dawn of civilization, and we won't stop it, short of annihilating the problem!!! Or if we don't wanna do that, then just build them a nuclear power plant, and let them have another Chernobyl!!

I think we can never gain the support of local Iraqi's which is why we have yet to get things under control. While they do appreciate our help getting the bad guys out'a town the idea of an American democracy has got to scare the hell out of them.

Look at the example we set to the Iraqi's. We allow a bunch of buffoon's(politicians) to tell us what we are going to do like it or not. We are allowed to vote, but only on matters the buffoon's feel we will vote the way they want, else they vote for us.

I guess some matters are just too important to be left up to WE THE PEOPLE.

And these buffoon's are called "Representatives." Representatives of who? Clearly not WE THE PEOPLE. Why we don't require a vote on all matters by the people is beyond me. Now I understand this would require constant voting by the people, but Its far better than leaving it up to the buffoon's who obviously don't care what the people think should be done.

We should have the ability to vote these buffoon's off the island. The problem with our system is we get some buffoons that doesn't give a crap about WE THE PEOPLE and only ME MYSELF and I and all we can do is say "Well, we just vote them out next election." So in the mean time this mental is screwing America up to the best of their ability.

Our system has got to scare the hell out of the local Iraqi's. It scares the hell out of me and I live here.

I think the "respresentatives" are respresenting the people.......the last poll I saw showed about 60% of "the people" are in favor of pulling our troops out of Iraq....keeping in mind that with poll results there is usually a + or - percentage that can go either way......nonetheless, that's a pretty significant percentage of folks.......

But was that 60% in favor of pulling out next year? It seems too me that what I saw was yes we want to pull out but not immediately. If I remember right that vast majority said pulling out too soon would be a disaster.

It doesn't matter - Bush is gonna veto it anyhow cause ther's too much pork in the bill. Hell they wanna say we are pullin out and "savin" the troops but they want to have thier special projects tacked on to.

Why the hell can't the just send a bill with no "extras" to the pres. They are sellin our troops secruity and safety to special interesests......... I don't know how the damn politicians sleep at night.

Your new congress sold out (all of the yeas) to special interests. Now guess how many Democrats vonted Nay...............

That may be, however I think it shows that the majority want out.....they want OUT.

That's been going on forever, not just this congress. Granted, this bill wasn't the time, but they knew it would be vetoed anyway, so what difference does it make? They've said repreatedly said that this veto didn't have the numbers to be overriden, I think it was primarily symbolic, so there was never a chance that any of the extra crap was gunna get in anyway............

You don't think any "pork" was passed by the last Congress??? Yea, right......
