So in OTHER words...if I KNOW of someone breaking the law and using a fake SS # there is nothing I can do as a citizen???

This is part of why we have the problem with illegals that we do.

If someone is using a fake ID or SS# - or more specifically, a "borrowed" or bought one, it becomes a crime called Identity Theft. But, the only way we find out about this is when the victim (the person who owns the SS# or DL#) comes forward to report it.

When I moved up here from Texas in 1995 I went to the D.L. office on 14th ST. to get my Kansas License. As I sat at the desk filling out my information, the examiner next to me was talking to a hispanic man that was trying to get a License also. The examiner was holding a S.S. card in his hand that I assumed was this mans card. The examiner gave the card back to him and said you can't use this card because someone was in here yesterday with the same card and name and got a License. I could hardly believe what I was hearing and what I was seeing. It just blowed my mind that he gave it back to him. Mayby they have to I don't know what the law would be on this.

Somebody using a fake ID is committing Tax Fraud. ya contact the IRS

To answer your initial question, in this country the local/state police departments are not expected nor supported in their efforts to control immigration violators.

Well that won't work cause now they are filin tax returns. Seen the news??
They file tax returns becuase they feel that will fast track thier citizenship.

What I heard was they only ones filling returns are the ones expecting money back.

Filling tax returns means the duplicate SS# get caught up in the computer and no checks get cut for that number. At first they send letters but eventually they get around to checking it out. By filing returns they are turning themselves in.

Well, yeah, eventually - but by the time somebody physically checks it out, they're long gone and are using somebody else's SS#.

They have thier own tax ID - they don't need yours or mine.

They are trying to assimalate.. isn't that what we have been asking for? They just had to wait for the right reason why - green card............. I gotta say as much as I hate illegal immigration - I know this has got to be a really tough decision to make and it seems more are making it.
