"Sanctuary City"?

Some cities have made the news lately as "Sanctuary Cities" for illegals. My questions are these. Is Dodge City considered a sanctuary city? DO our local law enforcement people enforce immigration law? If someone gets pulled over do they require them to show a green card, work permit etc? If they get arrested do they get checked to see if they are here illegally? I wonder how many people on the list of warrants have warrants elsewhere and how many are illegal? What is the policy if a local law enforcement person comes across an illegal or suspected illegal. Do they contact ICE or do they look the other way? AS citizens if we KNOW someone is here illegally is there ANYTHING we can do?

I'm not sure you could get the INS to respond........I remember a story about the failure of INS to respond when a van load of illegals were stopped over by Kinsley........

As a citizen if I see someone breaking the law not only can I report it I have a civic duty to report it. Example if I see someone shoplifting from Walmart I should go report it to "security". Using that methodology if I come across someone that I KNOW is here without papers or worse yet has a fake ssn shouldn't it be my DUTY to report it? If so, who do I report it to?

I dunno.........locally probably the police, although I don't know what they can/cannot do without INS involvement.

From what I know and have seen in the past, ICE will not do anything if someone illegal is arrested on misdemeanor charges, or even low level felony non-person charges. If they tried to process and deport every single illegal arrested for simple battery, DUI, or even no driver's license, they might as well set up camp in DC.

Sounds like a plan to me. When they're done here they can move somewhere else.

Maybe they should...their return on investment would be good.

So in OTHER words...if I KNOW of someone breaking the law and using a fake SS # there is nothing I can do as a citizen???!!?!?!
